What’s the big deal about packaging?
You might be asking yourself that after hearing that over 44,000 industry professionals assembled at Pack Expo International in Chicago, Ill. at the end of October to visit with 2,200 exhibitors.
Savvy brand owners and manufacturers know that packaging matters. It’s so much more than just a way to hold a product and move it through distribution channels. The right package can help grow businesses. It’s the ultimate enabler to connect with consumers, improve operational efficiencies, and advance a more sustainable agenda.
Amcor’s two exhibits at Pack Expo — hosted by Flexibles North America, Flexibles Latin America, Rigid Packaging, and Healthcare Packaging — addressed the needs of our customers and provided solutions, backed by powerful insights and data, to solve for difficult challenges.

New this year, Amcor shared three interactive digital tools in our booth to help customers assess the needs and benefits of their packaging:
- Amcor’s ASSET™ life cycle assessment service, third party certified by the Carbon Trust, became an interactive app-based tool that assists with data driven decision making for customers facing sustainability choices. The app includes over 120 simple life cycle assessments that compare a non-sustainable common package with one of Amcor’s more sustainable alternatives. The results provided by the program include quantitative metrics that measure the change in carbon footprint, energy and water consumption.
- The Amplify® experience allows the user to select a specific need for their package to deliver on shelf, such as organic and natural cues, and then suggests one or more print and finishing technologies that provides those benefits.
- The retail fragmentation overview is another interactive program in which the user selects one of six channels to learn about their unique challenges and optimize the packaging for various channel-specific complexities such as lighting, shelf-sets, and logistics.
