UN Containers

ZURICH, March 10, 2026 — Amcor (NYSE: AMCR, ASX: AMC), a global leader in developing and producing responsible packaging solutions, has achieved UN certification for its 5.5 liter and 5.8 liter size industrial containers manufactured at its Pamplona, Spain facility, which contain 50% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic.

UN approved packaging prevents spills and exposure, protecting people, property and the environment. When combined with the 40 µ thick internal LDPE bag stipulated for the certification, the containers offer a high-quality solution for the safe storage and transportation of solid and powdered hazardous goods in markets such as chemicals, medical waste and automotive, while at the same time supporting manufacturers’ sustainability goals and commitments. In particular, Amcor anticipates strong demand for the containers for swimming pool chemicals and treatments.

In addition to satisfying consumer and customer demands for more sustainable packaging solutions, the availability of 50% PCR content will also help companies to meet current and impending EU and national packaging legislation.

The Pamplona factory, like other Amcor facilities in Besançon and La Genête, France and Lubien, Poland, also has RecyClass certification. This enables Amcor to offer RecyClass labelling on non-food packaging, which validates claims around recyclability and the incorporation of recycled materials for its customers.

“This latest UN certification is an important development, which we believe will benefit many businesses throughout Europe,” said Ignacio Igea, sales director industrial, Spain, Portugal & Italy for Amcor Rigid Packaging Solutions International. “While companies naturally wish to adopt more sustainable packaging solutions, it is equally important to maintain a container’s overall performance, and this is especially critical for hazardous goods. Our UN containers with PCR content continue to offer optimal security and reliability, meeting the strict demands of the UN approval procedures.”

Both the 5.5 liter Amcor SuperLift Extra and 5.8 liter Amcor SuperFlex combine a robust and product-secure design that optimizes storage utilization and offers low noise on filling lines with a lightweight construction for easy handling and transportation. A range of decoration options provide excellent branding opportunities. The SuperFlex container can also be fitted with a child proof lid, which makes it impossible for children under 51 months to open while providing easy access for adults, including seniors.
