Flexidity® runs the show at Interpack 2011

May 10, 2011
Flexidity® has recently been rewarded with the German Packaging Award as well as the WorldStar Award, which will be presented at Interpack, and combines the best of two packaging materials. The flexible pouch ensures that the product stays fresh and food waste is reduced. Furthermore, it delivers easy opening and reclosure features. The cardboard provides the shape and leads to many convenient benefits, like easy sharing, easy pouring or easy handling. To open and consume the product, shoppers simply push in the pack on the side to form a stand-up pack and to ensure a wide opening of the pouch.
Further to the various consumer benefits, Flexidity® also offers significant environmental benefits. Due to the low packaging weight and volume, more packs can be loaded onto one truck, thus reducing the number of trucks and the corresponding CO2 emission. After consumption, the carton sleeve can be separated from the pouch and recycled through the paper recycle stream.
Thanks to the high customer interest in Flexidity®, the decision was taken to invest in a machine prototype. This enables the validation of the process and the production of samples and end-consumer testing packs.
The ILAPAK prototype machine has been in production since January 2011 and reaches a machine speed of approximately 45 packs per minute, depending on format and material characteristics.
The Flexidity® machine allows the production of both pre-made packs and FFS packaging formats. No matter what the requirements are, with a flexo or rotogravure printed cardboard and film we produce a packaging solution that ensures on-shelf product differentiation and leads to consumer interaction and engagement.
