Amcor retains place in FTSE4GOOD index

June 4, 2009
I’m pleased to announce that Amcor is to be included in the prestigious FTSE4GOOD index for another year.
FTSE is an independent company jointly owned by The Financial Times and the London Stock Exchange in the UK. It produces indices of listed companies that investment consultants, asset owners, fund managers, investment banks, stock exchanges and brokers use to make decisions about where to invest money.
One of the index series they produce is the FTSE4Good Index. These indices measure the performance of companies that meet globally recognised corporate responsibility standards, and to aim to facilitate investment in the companies that appear in these indices.
Each year we are asked to submit information about the policies and management systems we have in place to manage the environmental and social impacts of our business. This includes information about our safety management systems and our environmental reporting systems. A review panel within the FTSE organization then benchmarks Amcor against similar companies to determine if we manage these aspects of our business well and whether Amcor should be included in the FTSE4Good indices.
You may recall that we were also included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for 2008. The DJSI is the American equivalent of the FTSE4Good index. Being included in both indices provides global recognition that we really are living up to one of Amcor’s Core Values – Social Responsibility.
My congratulations and thanks to all Amcor co-workers for helping to achieve this great result.
