Amcor Community Program Launches

April 24, 2014
Amcor today announced the launch of the Amcor Community Program to bolster the Company’s already active participation in the communities in which it operates.
As part of the Amcor Community Program we will continue to look for partnerships with leading international organisations who share our passion for responsible packaging and helping people in need; as well as making community grants available to Amcor’s global workforce.
Ken MacKenzie, Amcor Managing Director and CEO said: “We are proud of the positive contribution we make to the communities around the world where we operate. The Amcor Community Program builds on this and provides a fantastic opportunity for all co-workers, from across more than 40 countries, to access funding to take action and make a positive impact in their local communities.”
Amcor co-workers can now apply for community grants to contribute to programs and initiatives that support the following causes:
Protecting food: helping people access safe and nutritious food and reduce food waste, as the world’s population grows and global food shortages increase;
Education: increasing awareness of the contribution responsible packaging makes to creating a more sustainable future;
Protecting the environment: supporting ways to reduce environmental impacts at work and in our communities to contribute to a healthy planet; and
Delivery of essential products and services: providing access to basic necessities, such as food, medicines and water to communities in need, particularly in times of crisis.
“The outcome of Amcor’s Community Program will result in healthier and more sustainable places for people to live and work – today and tomorrow.
“We are looking forward to reporting the outcomes of the Amcor Community Program in our annual Sustainability Report,” concluded Mr MacKenzie.
