“My playground was the beach.” David Katz, the founder, and CEO of Plastic Bank grew up on the west coast of Canada.

ShortSynopsis Blog

From an early age, his love of the ocean meant that plastic in the environment was always an issue for Katz. In 2013 he set up Plastic Bank, the only organization to monetize plastic waste and provide an opportunity for the world’s disadvantaged to collect and trade plastic waste as a currency.

Since its founding, Plastic Bank has recovered and recycled over 6.25 million kg (13,000,000 lbs) of ocean-bound plastic and improved the lives of over 4200 families living in poverty.
