Job Description

1. Job Overview

 

This role manages all accounting functions for the Site, as well as supervises accounting staff. Establishes/implements departmental accounting policies and procedures that are in accordance with statutory, SOX, and GAAP standards.

Performs operational analyses and develops and implements improvements to increase efficiency and operational effectiveness.

Performs advanced professional accounting duties that require the independent application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SOX. Analyzes, records and interprets financial transactions, reconciles account data and prepares specialized and standard accounting reports.

2. Job Dimensions

Site controller of the most important plant in terms of sales in the Americas. There is one Direct Report for this role.

 

3. Principal Accountabilities

The Controller has overall responsibility of Finance and Controlling for a specific plant in the Americas. In detail this means, but is not limited to:

 

·         Fulfil all Group requirements concerning Finance and Controlling such as standards, procedures, timelines etc.

·         Represent all Finance and Controlling aspects within the local management and the Business Unit team

·         Manage the Finance Department, conducts performance reviews, disciplinary actions, hire and terminations of the Department.

·         Oversee our Finance Shared Services department as it relates to the Site.

·         Develop competencies and skills of all direct reports

·         Provide internal control systems to constantly monitor all financial risk areas

·         Perform investment control for strategic and operational projects on site level

·         Represent the site vs. external partners such as auditors, banks, tax advisors and tax authorities etc.

·         Implementation of updates and finance business systems.

·         Active member of the Site Management Team and part of the decision making process in the Plant as a whole.

·         Provide Finance training, mainly for department managers on plant level

 

Based on the above-mentioned responsibilities the Controller must actively contribute to business success and performance improvement by:

 

·         Initialising and leading local profitability improvement programs (cost savings, reduction of WC)

·         Achieving best practice procedures in reporting, performance analysis and any other finance/ controlling services

·         Focusing on customer relationships

·         Supporting the strategic and operational development of the site

·         Leading other important projects in accordance with the local Plant General Manager’s  directives and objectives

 

The Controller supports the strategic and operational development of the Business Unit by:

 

·         Actively be the business partner of the general manager of the plant

·         Identify best practices and support the drive of common standards across the cluster to meet or exceed targets

·         Communicate and Coordinate B.U. and Company Finance standards, activities and  Best Practice across the B.U.

·         Coach other Finance team members, Business Unit and Plant General Managers to ensure common language and standards across the Americas.

 

OHSE and Quality:

 

·         Participate as an active member of the Plant Leadership Team to support OHSE and Quality, process improvements, new innovations in manufacturing, development of sales and marketing strategies and overall business objectives of the business.

·         Understand the OHSE and Quality policies, procedures, and actively support the polocies and implement the guiding principles in everyday activities.

5. Qualifications/Requirements

6.1 Formal Qualifications and Experience

 

Specific Education Qualifications:

 

·         University degree preferably in the Finance area.

·         Additional degree in Finance/Treasury/Taxes desirable

·         Professional accreditation an asset - Chartered Accountant (CA) / Certified Management Accountant (CMA) / Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

 

6.2  Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviours (please also refer to the core competencies reflected in the Amcor Leadership Framework overleaf, in addition to defining any key technical skills or other key attributes specific for this position)

 

Background and experience:

 

·         Several years of practical experience as Finance Manager or Chief Accountant in an international environment

·         Experience in the manufacturing industry would be ideal

·         Fluent in spoken and written English

Compensation

The starting salary for this position is expected to be between $112,800 to $155,100 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on national averages and a geographic differential may be applied based on work location. Position may also be eligible for Amcor’s Management Incentive Plan / Sales Incentive Plan, which is an annual bonus program based on business and individual performance, as well as medical coverage and other health and welfare benefits.

The salary range provided reflects the anticipated starting salary base pay for this role at the time of this posting and does not necessarily reflect full earning potential over the course of employment. This range is applicable to positions performed in jurisdictions with pay transparency requirements, including CA, CO, CT, HI, IL, MD, MA, MN, NV, NJ, NY, RI, VT, WA, Washington DC, as well as remote roles that may be performed in these locations. Compensation for roles performed outside of these jurisdictions may vary. The Company reserves the right to modify this range at any time.
