Job Description
Job Overview
Coordinate and maintain the site's training and employee development systems within established programs, procedures, and approval guidelines. Schedule and monitor training for new hires, transfers, promoted employees, and current employees; maintain training documentation and LMS/KMS records; and support skills development, cross-training, qualification/progression programs, and site learning initiatives. Partner with HR, Operations, subject matter experts (SMEs), and employees to keep required training on track and coordinate approved development activities.
Job Duties:
- Maintain accurate electronic and hard-copy training files, qualification records, and LMS/KMS records.
- Coordinate onboarding, qualification, refresher, cross-training, and other approved training for new hires, transfers, promoted employees, and current employees.
- Maintain training checklists, skills matrices, qualification matrices, training materials, and completion records.
- Monitor training compliance and past-due requirements; follow up with employees, supervisors, and SMEs and escalate unresolved gaps to the HR Manager.
- Track training and qualification progress and submit objective completion data and routine recommendations for additional training or progression review to the HR Manager and department management in accordance with established criteria.
- Create and update training presentations, job aids, and learning materials in partnership with SMEs; route controlled documents through established approval processes and maintain approved materials in the LMS/KMS.
- Facilitate approved orientation, training, and development sessions using established content and standards.
- Coordinate 30/60/90-day onboarding and training follow-ups, collect employee and manager feedback, and summarize recurring training gaps for the HR Manager.
- Partner with Operations to maintain an adequate SME/trainer pool; coordinate trainer availability and support approved Train-the-Trainer and TWI activities.
- Maintain the site training and development calendar and coordinate logistics for approved learning events, workshops, certifications, and development sessions.
- Support approved employee development plans by scheduling courses, tracking completion, maintaining records, and following up on open actions.
- Maintain training and development dashboard metrics and provide routine reports on completion, past-due items, qualification status, trainer capacity, and participation.
- Regularly interact with Operations to verify training completion, understand barriers, and coordinate follow-up within established standards.
- Suggest routine training-system improvements to the HR Manager for approval.
- Meet with the HR Manager regularly to provide updates on training, development needs, resource constraints, and open actions.
- Serve as a first point of contact for routine training and HR questions; route employee-relations, policy-interpretation, disciplinary, compensation, or other matters requiring management judgment to the HR Manager.
- Work within established policies, training standards, qualification criteria, budgets, and management-approved priorities. The role may gather information and make recommendations but does not independently establish policy, approve pay or promotions, discipline employees, commit company funds or vendors, or make exceptions to established requirements.
- Assist the HR Manager with administrative HR duties as assigned.
- All other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
Qualifications/Requirements
Formal Qualifications and Experience
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing, training coordination, HR support, or related environment preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with an LMS/KMS or similar training record system preferred.
- Experience coordinating onboarding, training schedules, skills matrices, qualifications, or employee development activities preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviors
- Ability to organize and track site training, employee development activities, and skills/qualification matrices.
- Ability to facilitate training using approved content and established procedures.
- Ability to gather information, summarize routine trends, prepare reports/dashboard updates, and make recommendations within established guidelines.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, follow up on open actions, and escalate issues appropriately.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with employees, leads, supervisors, managers, and SMEs in a team-based environment.
- Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Regular attendance and flexibility to support training needs across site shifts as required.
- Lean manufacturing experience desirable.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to push, pull, frequent reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, and twisting
- Frequent use of wrist and hands
- Frequent stepping up and down from platforms
- Work on computers for extended periods of time.
