Job Description

As Sales Manager, you’ll lead a high-performing sales team focused on growing our business, strengthening customer relationships, and delivering our sales and profitability goals.


You’ll coach and develop your team throughout the sales process, helping them focus on the right opportunities, build stronger customer partnerships, and continually improve performance. You’ll also develop relationships with senior-level customers and prospects, helping identify new opportunities and stepping in as an escalation point when needed.


Collaboration will be a big part of your role. You’ll work closely with Marketing, Innovation, Customer Service, Operations, and other teams across Amcor to turn opportunities into results. You’ll have a high level of ownership and accountability for commercial decisions, working within Amcor’s Value Plus commercial excellence principles.


As a senior member of the team, you’ll also contribute to business planning, budgeting, talent development, and continuously improving our commercial performance.

YOUR ROLE IN UNPACKING POSSIBILITIES


Sales Strategy

  • Create clear account plans that connect customer needs and opportunities with our business capabilities.
  • Lead the development of annual operating plans and strategic objectives for your team’s accounts.
  • Review sales performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and help shape regional sales priorities and plans.

Deliver Sales, Growth and Profitability

  • Partner with business leaders to set realistic and ambitious sales, growth, and margin targets as part of our planning and forecasting processes.
  • Monitor performance against targets and take action when we need to adjust course.
  • Balance customer demand, manufacturing capacity, inventory, and profitability to help deliver the best commercial outcomes.
  • Identify and implement improvements to sales plans or processes to keep the team on track.
  • Lead pricing and raw-material pass-through initiatives in line with our commercial pricing strategy to help protect margins.

Lead and Develop Your Team

  • Lead, coach, and motivate your team, giving people the support and direction they need to succeed.
  • Play an active role in hiring great talent and building strong development and succession plans.
  • Set clear expectations, monitor individual and team performance, and address performance gaps constructively.
  • Bring our commercial excellence programs to life across the sales team.
  • Model Amcor’s values in the way you work with colleagues, customers, and partners.
  • Identify development opportunities and make sure your team has the skills, knowledge, and training needed to be successful.

Drive Sales Performance

  • Help the team prioritize its time and focus on the customers and opportunities that can make the biggest difference.
  • Coach sales team members through customer negotiations and commercial agreements.
  • Build strong relationships across our customers’ organizations, making sure we’re connected with the right people at the right levels.
  • Champion the “One Amcor Way” and our Value Plus Commercial Excellence Program.
  • Keep senior leaders informed with clear business updates, insights, and recommended actions.
  • Make sure account plans are current, actionable, and captured in Salesforce.
  • Drive proactive sales funnel management, helping the team: Deliver annual goals. Focus on priority customers and opportunities. Identify where additional support is needed. Work through customer and seller-specific challenges. Continuously improve individual and team performance.
  • Support the S&OP process and take ownership of rolling sales forecasts.

Work Across the Business

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships across Amcor, including senior leadership, Procurement, Engineering, Quality, Operations, Marketing, R&D, Sales, and other support teams.
  • Help your sales team take customer opportunities from initial concept through to sale and delivery.
  • Bring together the right people and resources from across the organization to solve customer challenges and deliver opportunities.
  • Connect customers and sales teams with Executive Management, R&D, Marketing, and other areas of the business when their expertise can make a difference.

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU


Required

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 10+ years of experience working in a large-scale B2B environment.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience across technical, sales, and general management, ideally within the packaging industry.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Significant experience in senior sales leadership roles.
  • Experience working within a multinational organization, ideally in packaging, FMCG, or manufacturing.
  • A proven track record of delivering financial targets and growing businesses through effective sales leadership, continuous improvement, and disciplined cost management.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying, coaching, and developing talent.
  • Confidence communicating with and influencing senior-level audiences.
  • Solid negotiation experience with a focus on creating sustainable growth.
  • A track record of developing trusted, long-term customer partnerships.
  • Solid technical and commercial aptitude.
  • A good understanding of Amcor, our products, the packaging industry, and the competitive landscape.
  • An appreciation for disciplined sales processes and the ability to embed them within a team.

Compensation

The starting salary for this position is expected to be between $129,200 to $177,650 depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on national averages and a geographic differential may be applied based on work location. Position may also be eligible for Amcor’s Management Incentive Plan / Sales Incentive Plan, which is an annual bonus program based on business and individual performance, as well as medical coverage and other health and welfare benefits.

The salary range provided reflects the anticipated starting salary base pay for this role at the time of this posting and does not necessarily reflect full earning potential over the course of employment. This range is applicable to positions performed in jurisdictions with pay transparency requirements, including CA, CO, CT, HI, IL, MD, MA, MN, NV, NJ, NY, RI, VT, WA, Washington DC, as well as remote roles that may be performed in these locations. Compensation for roles performed outside of these jurisdictions may vary. The Company reserves the right to modify this range at any time.
