Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use caution and support systems to ensure a safety event free facility.
  • Respond to any emergency or potential emergency following established procedures.
  • Observe, respond and report any instance of product, service, or quality systems non-conformity.
  • Security diligence, including maintaining control of key cards, preventing unauthorized entry to Amcor facilities by non-Amcor employees, and proper maintenance / security of Amcor equipment and information.
  • Successfully complete Primary Duties as outlined below and associated training.     
  • Pause activities and notify Safety lead in any facility regarding instances of potentially unsafe work environments or employee and supplier practices.
  • Initiate action to prevent occurrences of any non-conformity of product, service or quality systems.
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Suggest actions for continual improvement to products, processes, or systems and verify the implementation of solutions.

 PRIMARY DUTIES include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the Project Engineering Group.
  • Determine which requests become active projects.
  • Assign projects and manage workload of Engineers.
  • Assist Engineers with problems and provide guidance.
  • Interact with Plant Managers and other Directors to ensure needs are being met.
  • Act as technical counterpart to the Commercial Lead or Manufacturing Plant. Control all project aspects of the project, including cost, scope, timeline, and specifications related to projects.
  • Develop, execute and maintain project plan, including making decisions regarding the project within the overall envelope of approved time, budget and scope.   Use authority to change strategy, approach or activity definitions to accomplish the same results within the same window.
  • Keep projects on time and within budget to meet deliverables, while practicing intelligent risk management with consultation from team members, peers, and senior management.
  • Report deviations of time, cost, and deliverable project components to senior management as project progresses.
  • Adhere to Amcor, industry, and/or regulatory procedures.
  • Close projects and conduct post project review for the continuous improvement of Amcor on future projects.
  • Manage large, complex and long-term (more than one year) projects.
  • Execute the project to reach the intended results.  Enforce or influence behaviors or actions that are necessary to attain the results for which the group is accountable
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of projects from concept, quoting, sourcing, justification, capital request, project management, and verification.

 QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION REQUIRED: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related work experience.
  • Experience in the following:
    • Handling large multi-million-dollar projects
    • Researching new technologies, evaluating, and providing recommendations
  • Strong time management and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong project management/organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Assertive, creative and data driven
  • Software experience with Solidworks, AutoCAD, MS Project, and Office
  • Ability to travel 50% of time (Some international travel is required)

 PREFERRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of the many machines within the group
  • Experience in the following:
    • Industry standards and project management
    • Cast and Blown Film
