Job Description

Role Overview

The Apprentice Quality Technician supports production by performing routine quality testing and audits to ensure products meet established specifications. This role focuses on learning and executing standard testing procedures, accurately documenting results, and communicating findings to the Quality Technician or Supervisor. The apprentice contributes to maintaining product quality while developing the skills needed for increased responsibility within the quality function.

Your Role in Unpacking Possibilities

  • Perform routine quality testing including break/hole testing using Cognex camera systems under guidance
  • Conduct cling testing with proper sample preparation following standard procedures
  • Assist in running ultimate stretch testing and recording key performance data
  • Perform basic QA testing such as haze, transmission, and coefficient of friction (COF) as directed
  • Complete scheduled quality audits across production lines using established checklists
  • Accurately enter all test data into computer databases
  • Assist in preparing QC and process records for the previous 24 hours
  • Communicate test results and immediately report non-conformities to the Quality Technician or Supervisor
  • Support production teams by providing timely and accurate test results
  • Escalate quality concerns and potential scrap risks to appropriate personnel
  • Maintain a clean and organized lab environment
  • Follow direction from Quality Technicians and leadership during shift activities
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Actively puts safety first in all responsibilities promoting Amcor’s safety culture

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and move between production lines and testing areas (75–100%)
  • Ability to lift up to 65 lbs (25–49%)

  • Ability to hear alarms and communicate effectively (75–100%)
  • Ability to climb, stoop, and kneel (25–49%)
  • Manual dexterity for handling materials and writing (25–49%)

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to high noise levels
  • Work near high-speed machinery and temperatures up to 550°F
  • Exposure to forklift fumes and occasional smoke from production equipment
  • Use of tools including knives
