Job Description

1. Job Overview 
A Press Assistant will assist the Press Operator in the set up and operation of the Press machine to 
produce quality production in a safe and timely manner for lamination and finishing departments. 
The Press Assistants main tasks include servicing all removable components of presses (cylinders, 
gears, anilox, heads, pans, etc.) and assist the mounting department with cleaning, stripping and 
prepping plates. 

2. Job Dimensions 
• Support Operations in the Press Department.  
• Assist with plate prepping and cylinder sleeving. 
• Housekeeping in press, prepress, and ink waste areas. 
• Accurately measuring and recording anilox volumes after cleaning. 
• Drain and clean ink pots and press components. 

3. Principal Accountabilities 
• Able to understand and make accurate measurements.  
• Understands and completes all paperwork related to operations. 
• Labels and palletizes finished rolls. 
• Acquire and stock all necessary operating supplies and materials for the press equipment. 
• Assist the Press Operator with set ups, paperwork, and operation of equipment. 
• Will train under Press Operator. Efficient operation of Press equipment, safety, quality and 
operation processes. 
• Identify quality defects. 
• Apply knowledge of Work Order specifications. 
• Assists with the take down and set up of jobs. 
• Cleans plates and cylinders, washes up decks, and sumps, cleaning of anilox rollers. 
• Refills and maintains ink supply and testing ink viscosity.  
• Responsible for all press material at machine; film, inks, and plates 
• Completes tasks and helps produce quality product in a timely manner. 
• Prepare anilox rollers for cleaning, loading anilox into the cleaning unit, operate the cleaning 
equipment, removal of anilox rollers, and completing inspection reports. 
• Staging press components. Assembling carts with the required parts for upcoming jobs on 
each of the presses 
• Cleaning ink kits and various parts form the plant. 
• Reassembly of the equipment for the press department. Staging of equipment on racks press 
side for upcoming jobs.  
• Breakdown press equipment for wash tank. Disassemble components from the press to be 
put into the wash up tank for cleaning. 
• Complete other duties as assigned by Shift Supervisor. 

4. Major challenges & complexities 
• Visually inspects food contact paths during preventative maintenance to ensure no visible contamination is evident. Contact supervisor if contamination is suspected. • Punctuality and adherence to the company attendance policy are essential • Managing time and effort to safely meet the demands for quality product.

6. Qualifications/Requirements

6.1 Formal Qualifications and Experience Knowledge and Experience • 1 year working in a manufacturing environment preferred. • Basic computer skills. Education and Certifications • High School Diploma or equivalent

6.2 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviours Job Specific skills and abilities • Must be detail conscious, quality control and safe production oriented.  

Pay Transparency Statement – Compensation

The starting salary for this position is expected to be $20.50 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary within the full salary range ($[minimum] to $[maximum]) depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on national averages, and a geographic differential may be applied based on work location.
