Job Description

About the role:

Performs inspection and testing on in-process and finished goods. Provide leadership and expertise in the achievement of manufacturing goals in the areas of safety, quality, production and efficiency. Ensure personnel performing Quality Checks follow correct procedures to produce and monitor products for customer.

Key Job Accountabilities • Follows all Company policies regarding safety, quality and attendance. Performs duties in a safe manner and reports all observed safety hazards to management. Acts as a role model for Safety on shift. Participates in safety programs by reporting Unsafe Conditions, Unsafe Acts and Close Calls; enters Near Miss data and observations into Global Data Center database (GDC) • Performs regular safety walk-throughs and planned housekeeping to the highest level as scheduled. • Assists production in maintaining highest quality and production standards. Ensures a quality product through regular quality checks by reading and verifying Traveler Reports. • Performs pallet audits as required to assure customer specifications are met. • Performs physical and analytical test such as; Elmendorf Tear, Dart Drop, Tensile Gauge Profile, Opacity, weights and measures, and Consumer specific testing. Additional testing may be required for samples from extrusion lines, trial runs and submitted request from sales. • Inputs all test results in the designated databases. All test results must be provided in a timely manner. • Follows directive of Quality Lab Engineering Technician regarding trial and sample run testing required. • Ensures all laboratory test equipment is in proper working order. Reports all non-functioning equipment. • Creates and print labels using the Tharo printers and JDE as applicable. • Strives to ensure only quality product is released from plant. • Reports and records all quality deficiencies, under and near minimum requirements to the Quality Manager, Shift Supervisor or Production Manager. • May be required to conduct new hire Machine Tender/Packer training. • Participates in employee driven teams to address scrap, quality, safety or other production related issues. • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Education: Knowledge normally acquired through completion of a High school diploma or GED is preferred.

Skills/Experience: In addition to the educational requirements, one plus years of experience in the production floor. Some knowledge of blown film or plastics is a plus. Minimum education and years of experience should not be used exclusive of other leveling factors described below.

Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret procedure manuals, specification sheets and other product documentation. Ability to write simple reports and instructions. Must be able to read, understand and write in English.

Mathematical Skills – Basic mathematical skills to be able to understand simple mathematical concepts such as percentages and ratios; Ability to read a weight scale and tape measure and/or ruler to perform quality checks and transfer to documents.

Additional Requirements: • Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and to handle multiple projects simultaneously. • Ability to make practical decisions without appreciable direction or advance preparation. • Mechanical aptitude and good organizational, analytical and team skills. • Possess proficiency in sampling, inspection, lab testing practices and familiarity with product lines and specifications. • Ability to learn the ‘new packer training’ program and able to lead the training when necessary. • Basic use of hand tools and measuring equipment such as micrometers and rulers. • Basic knowledge of computer operations and Microsoft office programs (i.e. spreadsheets, word processing and databases).

Employee is required to use hands and fingers to use hand tools. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision. Employee must be able to climb ladders, work from a lift, work with and around electricity; may be required to work in confined spaces.
