Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary duties and responsibilities of the Production Manager consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Always exemplifies the Amcor Behaviors and Values. Leads by example and exhibits professionalism in all areas when representing Amcor inside and outside of the plant.
  • Embodies commitment for a safe workplace, and acts as a role model on safety leadership, activities, and communication. Responsible for supporting, establishing, and maintaining safety programs and policies, and educating associates about safety.
  • Responsible for coordinating manufacturing distribution in accordance with policies, principles, and procedures established by the corporate headquarters.
  • Responsible for supporting and maintaining ISO and Food Safety Programs.
  • Responsible for conferring with manufacturing vendor sales and technical representatives.
  • Responsible for conferring with manufacturing sales representatives to evaluate and promote improved and expanded manufacturing services.
  • Responsible for developing plans for efficient use of manufacturing materials, machines, and employees.
  • Responsible for reviewing production costs and product quality and assisting in the modification of production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
  • Responsible for monitoring production process to ensure efficiency and highest quality products.
  • Assumes responsibilities of the Plant Manager when the Plant Manager is out of the facility.
  • Manage 5-10 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 100-300 employees in all departments of the plant.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. 

EDUCATIONAL, SKILL, & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or related field, and 5+ years of successful experience in a manufacturing environment or a combination of education and experience. 
  • Enclosed office space with frequent exposure to warehouse space and production floor; hearing protection may be required at times.
  • Equal amounts of time spent sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Good communication skills--verbal and written; must effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Independent in working effectively with little supervision; self-starter, displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.
  • Proven leader and motivator.
  • Commitment to Task: Able to take responsibility for actions and outcomes and persist despite obstacles; give dedication to the position; demonstrate dependability in difficult circumstances and show a sense of urgency about getting results.
  • Communication: Able to clearly present information through the spoken or written word; read and interpret complex information; talk with internal / external customers; listen well.
  • Decision Making & Problem Solving: Able to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgment and a realistic understanding of issues; able to use reason, even while dealing with emotional topics; review facts and weigh options.
  • Policies, Processes, & Procedures: Able to act in accordance with established guidelines; follow standard procedures in crisis situations; communicate and enforce organizational policies and procedures; recognize and constructively conform to unwritten rules or practices.
  • Tolerance of Ambiguity: Able to withhold actions or speech in the absence of important information; deal with unresolved situations, frequent change, delays and unexpected events.
