Job Description
SUMMARY
Responsible for monitoring the stages of closure production from raw materials to finished goods, and ensuring the necessary forms, work instructions, procedures, and equipment are provided to Berry and/or are being used by Berry in order to be compliant to determined requirements. The Quality Technician works with various entities: external raw material suppliers to resolve issues with product acceptance, manufacturing to ensure they have the necessary tools required to monitor the produced product, and the end customers to ensure they receive the required quality documents/samples.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor incoming raw materials.
- Verify incoming certificates.
- Test as required.
- Maintain color master file and certificate log.
- Process raw material non-conformance and communicate issues to suppliers
- Process internal non-conformances and communicate issues to manufacturing management.
- Inspect product retains.
- Maintain retain inspection log.
- Perform any testing as required.
- Internal Auditing of procedures, processes, warehouse, and product.
- Maintain production records.
- Coordinate retention times and sending of records to outside storage.
- Ensure quality documents/samples for outgoing product are acceptable, including Certificates of Analysis, Pre-Shipment Samples, Tailgate Samples.
- Coordinate Quality Department projects as needed.
- Support manufacturing within data acquisition software (Lighthouse).
- Metrology support – measure product on Comparator, FTIR, Functional testing, etc.
- Provide support for product/process validation testing.
- Follows applicable Food Safety and cGMP policies.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED is required; Associate’s degree in plastics, automation, or equivalent technical discipline preferred
- 2-3 years of experience in manufacturing or Quality Assurance is required
- Working knowledge of Quality Assurance processes, ISO procedures, GMP, statistical methods, control charts and SPC helpful
- Computer application skills (word processing, spreadsheets, databases) necessary
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written) required
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently necessary

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
