Job Description

Position Overview:

Performs general maintenance and preventative / predictive maintenance on a variety of injection, auxiliary and plant support equipment in an Assistants capacity  

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

PART TIME UP TO 24 HOURS A WEEK

Keeps molding machines free of debris and oil. Cleans the production area floor around the production equipment. Supplies maintenance and production equipment with proper lubrication. Paints equipment using spray gun or paintbrush. Performs general repair work on building All work performed will be in accordance to GMP's. Maintains machines, tools and work area in a clean and safe orderly manner. Must perform all duties within established safety guidelines and procedures. Follow lock-out/tag-out procedures. Follow requirements established under Job Safety Analysis training. Other duties as assigned. Follows all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Amcor “No Injuries Safety Contract” and as trained.  Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co-workers and Supervisors.  Properly uses all required personal protective equipment.

Authorization

Must have basic math skills to include addition, subtraction, division, multiplication and decimals. Must be able to speak, write and read effectively using the English language in order to understand work orders, safety notices and other forms of written communication. Ability to print legibly and fill out forms. Must be able to retain machine locations, equipment rooms and safety equipment. Logical reasoning with the ability to respond to instructions and follow through and notify Supervisor when instructions or requirements are not clearly understood. Must be able to plan basic day based on list of objectives that are noted on daily work lists. Must posses a Setco forklift license and be able to operate and hand jack and powered work platforms. Must be able to respond in emergency situations such as fires and accidents. Must be capable of using hand drills, grinders and saws. Must have good manual dexterity. Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions. Must be able to work overtime, if needed.

Qualifications: Education

Education and Experience

High school diploma or graduate of vo-tech program preferred

Other Requirements:

  • Supplies own tools sufficient to perform maintenance tasks in the disciplines of the scope needed to perform assigned duties.  This includes basic electrical test tools, industrial hand tools, air tools, hand tools, plumbing tools, welding tools, and specialty tools needed for specific job tasks in blow molding and injection, and mold repair / maintenance.  Must also supply own toolbox to adequately secure tools.

  • Ability to recognize and understand numbers and values related to job functions.

  • Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions / judgement calls based on the situation at hand.

  • Proficient hand / eye coordination to operate equipment and assemble packaging for shipment. Ability to communicate clearly. Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software related to record keeping and machine troubleshooting / maintenance.

  • SAP Computer Training (internal) GMP Plant Training (Internal) – Annual

  • HACCP Plant Training (Internal) – Annual

  • Glass, Brittle Plastic, Ceramic Fragment Avoidance and Containment Program - Annual

  • Food Defense – Annual

  • Communicable Disease – Annual

  • Forklift Certified based on job duties

  • Aeriel Lift Certification

  • Arc Flash Training

Other Physical Requirements:   Lift / push / pull up to 100 pounds 50 feet using a hydraulic hand jack (this is the equivalent of a static push / pull of approximately 70 pounds).Maximum frequent lifting weight of 75 pounds from ground to 6 feet overhead. Occasional frequency of lifting up to 100 pounds from ground to 6 feet overhead .Maximum frequent carrying weight of 60 pounds for 10 feet .Employees are required to stand / walk for up to 11 hours per shift on a concrete floor .Employees must be able to work 12-hour shifts day or nights, including weekends and holidays. Employees are required to bend; turn / twist; kneel; squat; crawl; climb; reach out and up; turn wrist; grasp; pinch; and have finger manipulations.
