Job Description

The Process Technician helps the production staff to direct day-to-day process activities for the plant consistent with company schedules and policies. The Process Technician will monitor and coordinate effective and efficient communication to Supervisors, Team Leaders and Employees through proactive, high participation, work team involvement, and is responsible for the administration of policies and practices of the Company. In addition, the Process Technician will implement the Amcor values and will be a major reason we achieve our vision of being the dominant supplier of value added films in the industry.

Position Responsibilities:     

  • Administers the plant operations safety and quality programs, to provide a safety and quality minded working environment.
  • Coaches the work teams and develops a mentor relationship with production floor personnel.
  • Participate in company planning in the morning meeting to help assist in the priority of the daily agenda.
  • Responsible for process improvement efforts in all areas, that results in cost savings/tracking for the facility.
  • Responsible for process preventative maintenance items. (winders, hoppers, screw & barrels).
  • Can perform tasks individually or in a group to solve process related issues.
  • Takes the initiative to take charge of situations that involve immediate action.
  • A working knowledge in all resins and their functions, and processing temperatures.
  • A working knowledge in all extrusion processes from extruders to winders and all accessories.
  • Responsible in assisting maintenance in annual die cleanings and process P.M.’s.
  • Updating and documenting the process condition sheets
  • Able to create and process job jackets.
  • Responsible for taking the lead role on new products and trial implementation.
  • Responsible for collecion of accurate screw and barrel wear for all lines.
  • Responsible for maintaining the vision systems from a setup/recipe standpoint, and monitoring/training production employees on the system as needed.
  • Be on call phone for (1) week at a time for process support for the plant.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum (4) years of extrusion experience.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint); proficiency in Excel preferred.
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt certification preferred.
  • If you do not have a Six Sigma certification, it is expected that you will pursue and complete the training at the first available time offered by the company.
