Job Description

 JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:                Inspector/Packer

Department:           Molding

Reports To:            Group Leader

Shift:                      3rd 12pm Shift

Location:               Streetsboro

FLSA Status:         Hourly

Summary:                 Inspect and package plastic products of good quality that meet the specifications of both our Quality standards and Customers. Individuals are responsible for performing the job in a safe manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: 

Follow established plant wide and department safety rules as well as all

GMP, SQF, SOP and Work Instruction guidelines

  • Report any safety concerns or problems to Group Leader
  • Safely operate equipment in accordance with training checklists
  • Have all required supplies and materials to perform job duties
  • Keep the work area clean and neat at all times by utilizing good housekeeping practices
  • Read travelers and compare to labels for accuracy
  • Prepare packaging in accordance with traveler instructions
  • Understand the product line.   Know the function of the product and any potential product defects that can adversely affect the function or application of the product
  • Visually check the quality of parts being packed
  • Do not stack non-conforming product either upside down or right side up on the reject table
  • Immediately place non-conforming product into the scrap bins as soon as it is found
  • Pack parts into boxes, totes or tray packs according to packaging specifications
  • Use individual 4 digit identification number to label boxed product
  • Affix labels in proper locations on box
  • Place boxes onto skid according to skid layouts
  • Only close and tape full boxes of product at the time of press or production shut down
  • Use buzzer system to call for proper personnel as needed
  • Notify process technicians of any quality concerns
  • Perform any and all job assignments employee has been trained to do.

Education and/or Experience:

High School diploma, GED equivalent and/or related work experience preferred.  Ability to read analyze and interpret common documents.  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to perform basic math and effectively present information

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.  The employee is frequently required to balance, stretch, stoop or crouch.   The employee must regularly lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision,  peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, and occasionally exposed to various types of equipment that have vibration. Humid conditions sometimes exist. The noise level in the work environment requires incumbents to wear hearing protection.  Other forms of PPE are also required.
