Position Summary
The Equipment Maintenance Technician – Tool Room is an entry‑level to intermediate maintenance role responsible for performing basic to moderately complex maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities on production tooling and facility equipment. This position supports safe, efficient plant operations and is designed to develop foundational skills in equipment reliability within a plastics manufacturing environment.
The Technician works under the general direction of senior maintenance technicians and maintenance leadership, while adhering to Amcor’s safety, quality, and operational standards.
This position is for the day shift, 7:45 am - 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Tool Room Responsibilities
- Repair, modify, and service plastic injection molds and related tooling components
- Operate Tool Room equipment including mills, grinders, lathes, drill presses, and associated machinery
- Assist with mold disassembly, inspection, reassembly, and preventative maintenance
Technical Support
- Read and interpret basic mechanical drawings and blueprints
- Support mold changeovers and tooling preparation as directed by tool room leadership
- Participate in equipment installations, tooling modifications, and layout changes under supervision
Documentation & Compliance
- Review blueprints and technical documents to determine material dimensions, equipment requirements, and operational sequences
- Follow established procedures, safety guidelines, and documentation requirements
- Comply with all Amcor safety, quality, GMP, and environmental standards
Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with production operators, maintenance team members, and supervisors to identify and address equipment or tooling issues
- Escalate complex or unresolved issues to senior technicians or leadership
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, tools, and Tool Room storage spaces
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, Lean manufacturing, and safe‑work practices
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- 0–2 years of experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial environments
- Plastics manufacturing or tool room experience strongly preferred
Technical Skills
- Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of mechanical systems
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring or diagnostic instruments
- Familiarity with CMMS systems preferred, but not required
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position:
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and use of hands for tool operation
- Ability to climb ladders or work at various heights when required
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity required for detailed mechanical work and inspection
Work Environment
- Work is performed in a manufacturing and tool room environment with exposure to:
- Moving mechanical parts
- Industrial machinery
- Noise, dust, heat, and varying temperatures
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, safety‑toe footwear, gloves, and other PPE as applicable
- May be required to work overtime, weekends, or off‑shift hours to support production needs

Hourly Statement
The starting rate of pay for this position is expected to be between $24.00 - $30.00; however, starting pay offered may vary depending on tooling job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
