Job Description
JOB OVERVIEW: The Production Supervisor oversees all plant production activities during a 12‑hour night shift. This role ensures compliance with company and plant policies, meets production schedules and standards, and delivers products that meet customer and internal specifications. The supervisor identifies problem areas, conducts investigations, and implements effective solutions while maintaining optimal production at the lowest possible cost.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Safety Leadership: Enforce safety rules and standards; promote an injury‑free culture and ensure PPE and safe work practice compliance
Shift Supervision: Direct and supervise hourly employees; assign work, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
Production Management: Maintain production schedules and standards; optimize manpower, machinery, and materials.
Quality Assurance: Ensure products meet specifications; implement corrective actions and communicate quality standards.
Training and Development: Provide on‑the‑job training; coach employees on safe and efficient equipment operation.
Labor and Resource Planning: Schedule and control overtime; minimize idle time and unfavorable labor variances.
Continuous Improvement: Identify issues, conduct investigations, and implement solutions to improve safety, quality, and productivity.
Policy Administration: Apply plant rules and company policies consistently; document and escalate disciplinary issues.
Collaboration: Work with maintenance, quality, and materials teams to resolve issues; ensure effective communication across shifts.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- College degree required or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of three years’ experience in a supervisory position in manufacturing environment
- Experience supervising more than ten (10) employees required.
- Experience with shop floor reporting systems required
- Proficient in MS Office Suites; SAP/JDE preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/BEHAVIORS:
- Knowledge: Manufacturing operations and scheduling, quality standards and customer specifications, Safety compliance (OSHA, LOTO), continuous improvement principles, and HR policies and employee relations, systems
- Skills: Leadership and team supervision, clear communication, scheduling and resource optimization, training and onboarding, problem-solving and root cause analysis, conflict resolution, and cost awareness.
- Abilities: Prioritize under pressure, multi-task across lines, make timely decisions, coach and motivate diverse teams, adapt to technical changes, and ensure compliance consistently.
- Behaviors: Safety-first mindset, lead by example, continuous improvement focus, customer and quality orientation, accountability and ownership, respect and inclusion, and clear, consistent communication.
OTHER INFORMATION:
- Physical Demands:
- Standing/walking for extended periods, frequent bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), manual dexterity for machine adjustments, and ability to work 12-hour shifts.
- Work Environment:
- Manufacturing floor exposure to noise, heat, cold, and moving machinery)
- PPE required (hearing protection, safety glasses, bump cap, gloves, etc.)
- Fast-pacjed, and deadline-driven environment.

- High responsibility for safety and quality
- Managing multiple priorities under time pressuer
- 12-hour shift fatigue management
