Job Description
The starting rate of pay for this position is expected to be $17.92; however, starting pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience between $17.92 and $22.00.
LOCATION: Sterling, MA (not eligible for relocation or employment-based visa sponsorship)
SHIFT: Rotating (3 days work/4 days off & 4 days work/3 days off - work every other weekend) 12-hour shift 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Must be available and able to train Mon-Fri 8:00am to 5:00pm.
SUMMARY
Convey raw material supplies to and assist the set-up of machinery to assure efficient manufacturing quality product that meets or exceeds expectations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Observe and follows all safety policies and procedures
Pull color concentrates and place it behind assigned extruder line(s)
Return all concentrates, boxes or cradles to racks or designated storage area(s)
Maintain segregation and combine gaylords or concentrates as needed
Create boxes on Pack-size equipment (loading material, selecting box size(s), gluing, and staging based on requests)
Glue Regular Slotted Containers (RSC's)
Stages materials for extruders and packaging
Remove finished product in a safe and timely manner replacing needed materials for continuous operation such as pallets, packaging, resins, etc.
Help relieve for breaks
Performs quality checks every two (2) hours
Cuts cores using Traveler/BOM provided and/or as instructed
Replenishes core racks and skids
Sorts and eliminates all short cores
Print and creates labels per Ignition/MES
Secure all skids of scrap and remove from production area and organize for reclaim into re-pelletizing process
Keep scrap area neat, organized with colored, chunks, scrap resin, and natural scrap segregated
Help core strip change over, scrap off cores when help is needed
Documents any maintenance and safety concerns
Perform other related functions, projects, and duties as assigned by supervisor or management
Secondary Responsibilities:
Help assist with changeovers
Help clean around extruders and blenders
Empty trash barrels as needed
Ensure the ink room is in proper order
Perform all duties of Packer/Inspector II as/when needed
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED equivalent
2-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment with extrusion experience preferred
Able to read, write and communicate in English to be able to follow instructions, complete required forms, verify quality products are being produced, and address issues/concerns from Packer/Inspector employees
Strong interpersonal skills
Able to work independently
Strong problem-solving skills
PHYSCIAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Able to work overtime, holidays, weekends
Able to stand, sit, kneel, bend, stoop, push/pull, lift, climb, reach and crawl for extended periods multiple times throughout 12-hour shift
Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted
Able to work safely around moving mechanical parts
No fear of heights (equivalent to a 4-5 story building)
Must have good vision, eye-hand coordination, and hearing
Must have manual dexterity involving total wrist action, twisting, pulling, and raising arms at, above or below shoulder height
Able to work in warm, humid, and cool climates for during of shift and/or including overtime
Able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes safety glasses, safety goggles/face shield, hearing protection, steel toe shoes/boots, gloves, and bump cap.
