Job Description
The ISO/SQF Practitioner is responsible for leading and maintaining the organization’s food safety and quality management systems in accordance with ISO standards and the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program. This role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and industry best practices by developing, implementing, and continuously improving HACCP-based food safety plans and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
The Practitioner serves as the primary point of contact for all matters related to food safety and quality assurance, including internal audits, certification readiness, and corrective actions. They play a critical role in fostering a culture of safety and quality throughout the organization and function as a liaison with external auditors and regulatory bodies during certification and compliance audits.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Always Exemplifies the Amcor Behaviors and Values. Leads by example and exhibits professionalism in all areas when representing Berry inside and outside of the plant.
- Work in a professional manner with other associates to ensure only quality product being released to the customer.
- Must follow and comply with all ISO 9001, ASI - Food Safety, ISO 15378 established requirements.
- The authority & responsibility to promote the awareness of customer requirements & expectations throughout the organization.
- Coordinates & Schedules for the management review meetings.
- Facilitate the plant quality internal audit programs and follow-up on any findings.
- Act as the liaison with Regulatory Auditors relating to plant certifications such as ISO 9001 and other certifications involving the Quality Management System.
- Must follow and comply with Safety & Quality Absolutes.
- Must follow all regulatory laws and guidelines.
- Must complete a HACCP training course.
- Implement and maintain HACCP-based food safety plans.
- Performs various other duties as assigned by Quality Assurance Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Have an understanding of the SQF Food Safety Code: Manufacture of Food Packaging and the requirements to implement and maintain and SQF System relevant to the site’s scope of certification.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- Independent in working effectively with little supervision; self-starter, displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.
- Good attention to detail, time management skills, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work as a cross-functional team member.
- Must exhibit the characteristics of a positive role model, action oriented, continuous improvement mindset.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Quality Assurance
PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Mobility: Must be able to move throughout the facility, including production areas, warehouses, and office spaces, to conduct audits, inspections, and compliance checks.
- Standing and Walking: Required to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8 hours per shift) during facility walkthroughs, inspections, and training sessions.
- Sitting: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or workstation while reviewing documentation, preparing reports, and managing compliance systems.
- Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally required to lift and carry binders, documents, laptops, and small equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Bending and Reaching: Occasional bending, stooping, and reaching to access files, inspect equipment, or retrieve materials from storage.
- Manual Dexterity: Must have fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to operate computers, handle documentation, and use inspection tools.
- Visual and Auditory Acuity: Ability to read detailed quality and safety documentation, labels, and computer screens. Must be able to hear alarms, verbal instructions, and communicate effectively in a manufacturing environment.
- Environmental Exposure: May be exposed to moderate noise, temperature fluctuations, plastic fumes, and industrial odors during facility inspections.
- Focus and Attention to Detail: Must maintain high levels of concentration and accuracy while reviewing compliance data, conducting audits, and preparing reports.
