Job Description

The starting rate of pay for this position is expected to be $35.00; however, starting pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience between $30.00 and $44.00.

SHIFT:  Monday - Friday 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. (this shift is eligible for $1.65/hour shift premium for worked hours)

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and rebuilding of production equipment and facility systems by maximizing equipment uptime, ensuring safe operations, and maintaining product quality through preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, and machine guarding requirements.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S and housekeeping standards

  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in safety meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Perform other job and project related duties as assigned.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Supports and complies with safety and environmental guidelines

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, replace, and rebuild mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and process control components on blown film extrusion equipment.

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on extruders, die heads, air rings, oscillators, winders, haul-offs, chillers, compressors, pumps, grinders, and material handling systems.

  • Rebuild pumps, motors, valves, bearings, rollers, and other components as required.

  • Replace worn or damaged components to restore equipment reliability and performance.

  • Conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Execute emergency repairs to minimize production downtime.

Preventive and Predictive Maintenance:

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities according to established maintenance plans.

  • Inspect equipment for signs of wear, vibration, leaks, misalignment, overheating, and other potential failure conditions.

  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and equipment history in the maintenance management system.

  • Recommend improvements to maintenance procedures and equipment reliability programs.

Electrical and Controls Support:

  • Troubleshoot electrical systems including motors, drives, sensors, relays, contactors, and control circuits.

  • Assist with troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment and automated production systems.

  • Replace and install electrical components in accordance with applicable codes and company standards.

Facility Maintenance:

  • Maintain facility support equipment including HVAC systems, air compressors, cooling systems, water systems, and building infrastructure.

  • Perform general maintenance repairs throughout the facility as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.

  • Technical degree, apprenticeship, or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, or related field (preferred).

  • Minimum 3-5 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in plastics, blown film, extrusion, packaging or manufacturing environments.

  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience rebuilding industrial equipment (preferred).

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.

  • Working knowledge of motors, drives, bearings, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, and production equipment.

  • Basic PLC troubleshooting skills (preferred).

  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and maintenance equipment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to consistently stand, walk, squat/kneel, bend, reach, pull/push, climb, crawl, work at overhead, waist height, and below waist.

  • Able to work at heights and around operating machinery.

  • Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Able to perform fine and gross motor skills.

  • Able to read, comprehend and communicate (written and verbal) in English.

  • Able to work overtime, weekends, and respond to emergency maintenance situations as required.
