Job Description
Position Overview:
Responsible for performing tasks and providing services to support the plant’s overall business plans and objectives as directed.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment. Has authority to stop machines/production to communicate safety, quality, machine problems, and breakdowns to Production Supervisor or Management representative.
Leads and supervises the quality department Co-workers.
Holds the quality department team members accountable to expectations surrounding quality system adherence and GMP standards.
Reviews employee performance and corrects through discipline or other means.
Is responsible for completing annual employee reviews and levels reviews for the quality team.
Oversees attendance as well as overtime and vacation coverage.
Conducts inspections of in-process materials and in-process finished products to meet customer specifications. Advises production when inspection results do not meet customer specifications. Responsible for replenishing supplies and materials required for assigned areas. Performs recording, filing duties, HFI, and related duties as required. Performs troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on inspections equipment as required. Communicates pertinent information to next shift. Performs clean-up and housekeeping duties. Interacts with customers to verify quality and satisfaction. Participates in facility’s certifications and audits Initiates, reviews, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility. Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the division, the group, and the company. Includes ability to handle stress and to interact with others so as to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment and minimize personal conflicts. Communicates with the EHS Coordinator and the EHS Manager regarding environmental management activities. Recognizes waste streams and minimizes waste generation through prudent use of materials, proper disposal and segregation as directed during training or by the EC, EFP/EM. Understands and practices proper accumulation and storage requirements for wastes. Understands and responds effectively to EC directions during emergencies by being familiar with emergency procedures, equipment, and systems as necessary. Implements contingency plan to the level required by position. Understands, completes, and maintains environmental documentation for which the individual is trained, or as directed by the EC, EFP or EM (i.e., inspections, labeling, record keeping, maintenance of equipment, etc.). Reports to the EC, EFP or EM on the status of assigned responsibilities. Required to work assigned schedule or 8-hour shifts, rotating days and nights, Monday through Friday, working hours may vary as specified by the quality manager. Incumbent must be available for calls on off hours. Regular and predictable attendance is required between 6:30AM-4:00PM. Incumbent may be asked to flex their schedule to ensure exposure to all shifts. Performs duties without posing a direct threat to anyone or to property. Direct threat is defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation. Works under general supervision within parameters set by management. Communication. Ability to communicate effectively, write effectively, read, comprehend, and follow complicated verbal and written instructions. Ability to meet the knowledge, skills, abilities, physical requirements, and working conditions set forth in this position description and on the attached Physical Demands Assessment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Associates degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred, but not required
- 3+ years relevant working experience in Quality systems required
- Extensive knowledge and hands on experience in implementing and maintaining quality system standards
- Outstanding written and oral communication and presentation skills
- Ability to effectively communicate with plant and corporate personnel
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of various computer software and training programs
