Job Description
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance of equipment for the purpose of keeping it in production-ready and safe condition by helping to administer the preventative maintenance program, assisting with troubleshooting equipment issues as well and making repairs as needed. The Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager. Starting wage is $34 hourly with opportunity to quickly advance!
Job Function/Essential Duties:
- Performs preventative maintenance tasks.
- Answers direct requests from the manufacturing floor “calls” by making the initial evaluation of the situation and determining what level of maintenance is needed for the issue/repair.
- Will resolve requests from the manufacturing floor.
- Performs all tasks necessary to operate maintenance room equipment according to procedure.
- Maintains equipment in production-ready and safe condition.
- Troubleshoots and repairs equipment as needed.
- Participates in cross-functional process improvement teams.
- Actively participates in daily team production meetings – communicates key items within the plant environment on safety, quality, maintenance, production and continuous improvement.
- Follows work instructions as needed.
- Performs root cause analysis when problems to determine if actions can be taken immediately or if appropriate personnel need to be called.
- Maintains 5S environment in the work area.
- Administers equipment preventative maintenance program.
- Participates in equipment optimization and cost control/reduction activities.
- Assists maintenance staff to ensure all auxiliary equipment is in place and in working order.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, up to 12 hours.
Competencies & Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Prefer at least 3 to 5 years-experience in a manufacturing environment. Must pass Maintenance Tech Trainee Test.
- Must possess a high degree of skill and a broad knowledge of mechanical principles and electromechanical techniques, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, robotics or other technical expertise, PLC’s plus diversified long-term experience.
- Possesses well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to utilize basic and advanced hand tools for a multitude of applications.
- Ability to read blueprints & schematics (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic).
- Ability to read, write and follow written or verbal instructions.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Computer experience is preferred.
- Must take maintenance Ivy Tech courses (6-total) within 18-months of assuming position.
