Job Description

About the Role

As the Tooling Manager within our Injection Molding plant, you are responsible for overseeing all Tool Room operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality support of the molding and manufacturing processes. This role provides leadership to the tooling team, sets priorities for mold repairs and maintenance, and coordinates closely with cross‑functional departments to support production goals. The Tooling Manager ensures compliance with company policies, safety programs, and quality systems while driving continuous improvement, employee development, and cost‑effective tooling solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor priorities of mold repairs.
  • Submit and approve capital expenses for the Tool Room and mold repairs.
  • Monitor efficiency reports and determine areas that require special attention.
  • Coordinate with all support groups i.e. Maintenance, Scheduling, Molding, Printing, Thermoform, and etc.
  • Oversee policies to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Conduct employee evaluations once a year.
  • Oversee the development and training of new employees and direct the employees in their work habits.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for the Tool Room and order supplies as needed.
  • Troubleshoot problems in the molding process pertaining to the mold and assist in the repair of molds or equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent.
  • Positive attitude and the ability to work with others.
  • Honest, dependable, and motivated.
  • Good math skills.
  • Good problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Must have good communications skills, written and verbal.
  • Must know how to use basic measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Previous experience with lathes, mills, grinders, etc. is not essential, but would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of injection mold components, terminology, and their relationships to each other.
  • Have a valid Driver’s license.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work around grease, oils, and solvents without adverse reactions.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and squat throughout entire shift.
  • Must have good manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to differentiate color.
