Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW

The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all production operations to ensure the consistent and reliable delivery of finished goods while meeting safety, quality, cost, and service objectives. This role drives operational excellence through strong leadership, disciplined execution, and a focus on process stability and performance optimization.

The Operations Manager is accountable for building high-performing teams, embedding continuous improvement practices, and ensuring alignment with Amcor standards and overall business objectives.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead and oversee production operations to ensure consistent delivery of finished goods aligned with safety, quality, cost, and service objectives in a dynamic, high-demand manufacturing environment.

  • Execute production plans with discipline, consistently achieving targets for volume, efficiency, and delivery while balancing competing operational priorities.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on waste reduction, productivity enhancement, and process optimization, with an emphasis on sustainable, long-term results.

  • Ensure adherence to operational standards and promote process stability by reducing variability and minimizing reliance on key individuals through standardization and capability development.

  • Build, develop, and lead high-performing teams, fostering engagement, accountability, and strong performance through effective leadership, training, and succession planning.

  • Promote and reinforce a strong safety and quality culture aligned with Amcor policies, standards, and values.

  • Ensure cross-functional alignment across production, planning, maintenance, and quality to optimize overall operational performance.

  • Monitor and manage key production KPIs, including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), Waste, Productivity, and Service Level.

  • Lead structured problem-solving activities and ensure the implementation of effective, sustainable corrective actions.

  • Manage resources (people, equipment, and materials) to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations.

  • Support and actively drive cultural transformation toward operational excellence.

MAJOR CHALLENGES & COMPLEXITIES

  • Balancing productivity, quality, and cost under operational pressure.

  • Driving sustainable improvements versus short-term fixes.

  • Managing workforce engagement and performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Ensuring alignment across multiple departments with competing priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in engineering, chemistry, quality, business, or a related field.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in production or operations management; experience in a printing or packaging environment strongly preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
