Job Description
Production Manager
Position Summary
Our Production Manager is responsible for planning, directing, supervising and coordinating Department operations comprised of EBM/SBM/RHB and MLD. Also accountable for production quality, correct processes, safety, daily preventive maintenance by machines, cost control, efficiency, scheduling, and training for all levels to assure constant improvement and development. Works collaboratively with the Process Engineer, Maintenance Supervisor, and all other managers to be certain that employees are properly trained in specific machine operations.
Areas of Responsibility
Managing People
- Provides direction and gains compliance
- Takes responsibility for subordinates’ activities
- Makes self available to subordinates
- Provides regular performance feedback
- Develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth
- Ensures implementation and follow through of all programs, processes and procedures
Production Management
- Determines workflows and staffing requirements
- Ensures equipment capability meets demand
- Coordinates flow of materials
- Adjusts scheduling to maintain efficiency
- Meets production and delivery schedules
Resource Management
- Manages time effectively
- Strives to contain costs and reduce waste
- Finds ways to conserve resources
- Overcomes resource constraints
Production Control
- Oversees hiring and training of production associates
- Manages daily production reporting for accuracy
- Controls spending to budgeted levels
- Audits QA, GMP, Scrap, HFI, and production methods
- Verifies cycle times, process sheets, and downtime logs
Team Leadership
- Fosters team cooperation
- Defines team roles and responsibilities
- Supports group problem solving
- Ensures progress towards goals
- Acknowledges team accomplishments
Engages in CIP Process
- Works to identify/develop CIP projects based on key business needs
- Understands/acts on Metrics, measures “gap” and structures effective corrective actions
- Trained in and uses the tools of CIP effectively
III. Position Requirements
- Must know and follow all GMP/ASI/IMS/ISO/SQF procedures.
- Must be able to work safely and follow safety rules and JSA procedures.
- Must be able to identify and report violations and unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
- Must be able to wear protective clothing such as a hair net, uniform, steel-toe shoes, gloves, and earplugs.
- Must be able to effectively respond in emergency situations such as fires and accidents.
- Must be able to follow all department procedures and directives.
- All of the above are essential job functions.
IV. Organization Relationship
Reports directly to Plant Manager
Qualification Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Operations management, engineering or related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience, which includes plant supervision, quality control, maintenance, and production management.
- Special Skills/Traits/Characteristics for a successful candidate to possess:
- Team player with demonstrated team-building skills
- Experience in EBM/SBM/RHB/MLD operations with technical knowledge.
- Processing skills.
- Good computer skills and administration skills.
Authority
Assume decision-making in the absence of the Plant Manager
