Job Description

PURPOSE: The position assumes full responsibility for the operation of the Production Department, for the factory facility and procedures necessary for the Peosta Amcor Plant to comply with governmental facility related regulations. Executes production projects or investigations in support of plant operations. Ensures the objective of maximum operating efficiency of the plant and facility by the effective allocation of Production Department resources and communications between other supporting management staff.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for effective functional organization and staffing of the Production Department.
  • Responsible for all production training programs on and off site, planning and coordinating various programs to meet personnel needs within the departmental requirements and recommends improved training methods.
  • Completes performance appraisals and conducts appraisal interviews on Production personnel and maintains discipline in accordance with the company’s rules.
  • Coaches department personnel to develop teamwork skills.
  • Responsible for assuring adequate working conditions, safety programs and appropriate production equipment and supplies.
  • Analyze costs and cost reductions where possible on an ongoing basis.
  • Develop procedures relating to immediate areas of responsibilities. H. Coordinates projects of production with other department functions.
  • Stays informed on current developments in immediate field of vocation and attends schooling and other functions as necessary and communicates information to subordinate personnel.
  • Develops and maintains administrative records as necessary for evaluation and control of all Department activities.
  • Communicates and cooperates with other employees in a positive and constructive manner to achieve the Goals of the Department and the Plant.
  • Promotes Safety by following all Plant Safety rules and reports violations and unsafe practices to appropriate Management Personnel.
  • Follows GMP policy, product safety and daily cleaning.
  • Must be able to follow the ISO and Quality Management Systems
  • Other duties as assigned. All of the above are essential job functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Executes Production Projects in support of Plant Operations.
  • Must know and follow all GMP procedures.
  • Must be able to work safely and follow Safety Rules and Procedures.
  • Must be able to identify and report violations and unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
  • Must be able to wear protective clothing as hair net, uniform, steel toe shoes, gloves, short-sleeved shirt, and earplugs.
  • Must be able to effectively respond in an Emergency Situation such as Fire, and Accident and direct the activities of others.
  • Must be able to follow all Department Procedures and Directives. All of the above are essential job functions.

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIP:

Reports directly to Plant Manager. Responsible for Production Personnel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical School Degree, knowledgeable in the Manufacturing field or 3-5 years experience as Production Supervisor.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
