Job Description

Total Base Pay Range
  • 74,100.00 - 111,100.00 USD Annual DOE

3.0 Responsibilities:
3.0    Support quality, productivity and safety goals.
3.1    Support building HVAC, compressed air and cooling tower systems.
3.2    Optimize machine and process efficiencies.
3.3    Manage projects and make recommendations regarding new technology to improve   product quality and productivity.
3.4    Lead and/or provide technical support for continuous improvement projects.
3.5    Analyze and design lean manufacturing cells using effective systems and simulation tools to optimize, use of space, equipment, material and personnel. 
3.6    Assist in developing plant layout in planning rearrangement of facilities, equipment and operations for better utilization of space. 
3.7    Work closely with research and development, quality assurance, operations and maintenance personnel to prevent problems with products and tooling/fixtures. 
3.8    Determine and eliminate root causes and diminish occurrences of defects in the manufacturing process. 
3.9    Maintain and troubleshoot multi-discipline machine technology to include mechanical, electrical, controls, PLCs, vision systems and drives.
3.10    Support development and maintenance of new tooling, machines and high-speed production equipment.
3.11    Create training instructions and standard operating procedures for use in equipment implementation.
3.12    Train production and maintenance departments on use and maintenance of new equipment.
3.13    Ensure all manufacturing safety regulatory policies and procedures are implemented and maintained at all times. 
3.14    Stay informed concerning new manufacturing technologies and equipment in order to manufacture and reduce cost through efficiencies. 
3.15    Support all current and new product introductions. 
3.16    Manage vendors/subcontractors to ensure requirements of the job scope are accomplished and confirm that all procedures, policies and regulations are followed.
3.17    All other duties, as assigned.

4.1.17     Flexibility: position supports a 24/7 manufacturing plant. Incumbent needs to be able to provide high level support & flexibility to meet plant needs.

4.2    Education and/or Equivalent Experience
4.2.1    Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Engineering or related field
4.2.2    5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
4.2.3    Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts
4.2.4    Experience with AutoCAD and/or Solid Works applications.
4.2.5    Experience with process engineering in injection molding preferred

4.3    Physical Requirements/Work Environment
4.3.1    Must be able to work nine (9) hours per day, five (5) days per week. Extended hours may be necessary.
4.3.2    Hot during the summer months (max 120 degrees). Very humid when outside temperature is 85 degrees and over. Average humidity is 95%. The humidity varies with the weather. It is cold during the winter (minimum of 40 degrees). In the production area, the average temperature is 50 degrees.
4.3.3    Noise level is 90dB.
4.3.4    Polyethylene, polystyrene, PET, polypropylene, nylon and purging compound materials are both processed and ground, which provides some fumes and dust.
4.3.5    Indoor and outdoor work is required.
4.3.6    Must be able to wear protective clothing such as a hairnet, rubber-soled shoes, earplugs and a beard guard (if applicable). No jewelry except for a wedding band without stones.
4.3.7    Must be able to lift 10 lbs. occasionally during the day.
4.3.8    Occasional standing to demonstrate, instruct and conduct meetings. Must be able to access all areas of the production floor and facility.
4.3.9    Must be able to detect and sense bottle defects such as texture, bottle temperature, and color. Ability to distinguish shades in color.
4.3.10    Single arm movement for writing, reading, operation of CRT, calculator and copy machine.
4.3.11    This position requires a high degree of interaction with all personnel, which requires hearing skills. Must be able to answer the telephone and interact with other employees and counterparts within the Company.
4.3.12    Must be able to read printed reports and production schedules.
