Job Description
About the Role
The Material Grinder is responsible for safely operating grinder machines to grind bottles and preforms. Ensures product entering regrind system is free of contamination. Operates and sets up resin equipment such as blenders, vacuum pumps, and resin lines ensuring that all equipment is running as intended.
Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Audit resin lines to ensure the resin hose configuration board is accurate
- Completes Metal Separator Audit and required documentation
- Access and utilize reports to identify available scrap in the warehouse
- Accurately:
- Calculates material usage to determine resin pumping plan
- Changes blending percentages on blenders and labels materials once ground
- Processes materials according to labels
- Consumes product tickets and correctly completes daily paperwork
- Identifies and separates scrap into correct resin types
- Load and dump grindable materials
- Able to identify and print labels in system
- Cleans systems as needed, to include de-dust system, grinder, etc
- Clears plugged resin lines and contains materials in correct locations
- Drains ground materials into Gaylords
- Safely and efficiently operates an electric pallet jack
- Abides by all Amcor Safety and Quality policies and procedures and assures inventory reporting compliance for audit requirements.
- Maintains a clean work area and performs general housekeeping duties.
- Follows all established safety rules and guidelines.
- Properly uses all required personal protective equipment.’

About You
- Good communications skills.
- Must be motivated, possess a high attention to detail and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Must have the necessary skills to perform reading, writing and mathematics in English as required.
- Must be able to multi-task multiple lines and effectively work with co-workers.
- Must be able to physically move including climbing, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, bending, etc. (up to 25 lbs.)
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers as well as the ability to recognize and understand numbers, values, and enters this information into an on-line database accurately.
- Ability to visually distinguish fine variations in color and other visual differences.
- Ability to visually and mentally make priority decisions and independent judgment calls based on the situation at hand.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to efficiently and effectively use a computer and related software.
- Ability to demonstrate skills and knowledge necessary to be awarded a forklift certification by Amcor Rigid Plastics if needed.
- Ability to work all shifts, holidays, and required overtime as needed.
- Must maintain a fast pace through the working day and work on multiple tasks
- Ability to lead self and initiate communication with the warehouse, lead and supervisor
