POSITION SUMMARY 

 

Grinder Operator is responsible for weighing, reporting and grinding scrap in a safe and proficient manner Be knowledgeable of product and product codes to have the ability to segregate scrap Wearing hearing protection is a requirement for this position Grinder must maintain good housekeeping in Grinder Room and Scrap Area.   

 

 

KEY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

Responsible for accurately weighing boxes of scrap, recording weights and grinding scrap.   

 

Grinder Operator must insure a quality regrind product is being produced by separating different polymers, making sure all handles and gaskets have been removed and recording regrind totals for each shift.   Must monitor granulator for proper operation and report any problems to Maintenance Manager/Maintenance Lead. 

 

Grinder Operator must maintain good housekeeping in Grinder Room and Scrap Area. 

 

The Grinder Operator is required to be versed in plant safety procedures such as:  Hazard Communication Program (Material Safety Data Sheets), proper lifting and bending procedures, accident prevention, personal protective equipment, bloodborne pathogens, basic electrical safety, plant evacuation routes, and the safety concerns of co-workers & visitors.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES 

 

Capable of identifying product and product codes and separating different polymers. 

 

Knowledge and skills to operate lift truck safely 

 

Must know how to safely operate tools and equipment to perform job. 

 

Ability to maneuver hand truck carrying gaylord of scrap weighing over 1,000 lbs. 

 

Good hand and eye coordination is essential. 

 

Ability to lift 50 pounds and carry 30 pounds safely. 

 

Ability to intermittently bend, climb, twist, crouch, reach, and lower. 

 

Verbal communication skills and minimum writing skills are required to transfer and to interpret the explanation of problems and to receive and understand work assignments.
