Job Description
PURPOSE:
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for leading and motivating the production team to
exceed goals and monitoring the day-to-day production activities to ensure that production
efficiency goals are being met, safety protocols are being followed, and quality product is being
produced. Directly supervises hourly employees. Plans and controls production performance
as measured against operating targets developed according to machine capabilities, manpower
capabilities and projected business. Ensures compliance to established customer quality and
production standards. Actively leads and participates in plant safety, housekeeping, 5S and
lean manufacturing programs by ensuring goals are met within the department. Ensures
completion of all required paperwork, schedules, work orders, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Planning, organizing, executing and leading the assigned production area
· Accountable to plan and execute to meet required safety, quality, delivery, production, cost
and communication objectives
· Meet production schedules within budgeted allocation
· Ensure appropriate on-the-job training and development of crew members is satisfied
· Address mechanical, operational, and technical downtime issues within department
· Train, motivate and mentor employees
· Conduct training of new and existing employees
· Supervise employees in the day-to-day operations to ensure safety, quality and productivity
· Maintain and improve production throughput and work with Production Manager to maintain direct labor cost
· Provide support for on the job assignments and continuous improvement initiatives
· Ensure company policies, quality procedures, and Good Manufacturing Policies (GMPs) are
implemented, understood and followed
· Maintain a positive working environment for all employees
· Maintain all required logs and reporting documentation and adhere to all safety procedures
· Adhere to all company safety regulations and policies
· Works with maintenance, Production Manager and Berry Technical Teams on the installation of new equipment and new lines.
· Responsible for adhering to and executing the applicable Environmental Health & Safety programs in order to provide a safe and clean workplace for all employees according to Berry, local, state, and federal requirement-regulations. · Ensure all safety and health standards are met to keep the production areas accident-free.
· All other duties as assigned
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· A four-year degree is preferred, or equivalent and applicable work-related experience
· Strong desire to train, coach and develop others to improve performance experience in blown film industry
· A minimum of 3+ years of experience in production floor supervision
· Previous experience with Lean, Six Sigma or other relevant continuous improvement methods and tools a plus
· Industrial Safety Training experience
· Strong problem-solving skills, results driven and effective decision maker
· Ability to work as part of a team and to work on own initiatives
· Ability to work any shift as needed
· Experience in using computer programs: Excel, Word, PowerPoint
· Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate accurately and professionally with all levels of the organization
