Job Description
About the Role
The Trade Compliance Specialist plays a key role in supporting Amcor’s Global Trade Compliance (GTC) program. This position is ideal for someone with 2–3 years of experience in international trade, logistics, customs brokerage, or import/export operations who wants to continue growing into a broader compliance role.
You will work across multiple areas—including customs operations, origin/FTA, classification, and customs operations —while our new global structure matures and long‑term specialization paths are defined. We are looking for someone who learns quickly, thrives in a dynamic, evolving environment, and enjoys problem‑solving in partnership with the business.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Transactional Support
- Support daily import and export activities, including document review, broker inquiries, and data validation.
- Assist in collecting, organizing, and maintaining trade compliance records required for audits and regulatory purposes.
- Help coordinate with brokers, logistics providers, and internal teams to ensure compliant and timely shipment execution.
Compliance & Regulatory Support
- Support the preparation of product classifications (HTS, Schedule B) and assist in gathering data for final review.
- Assist with Free Trade Agreement (FTA) / origin data collection from suppliers and internal plants.
- Help monitor trade compliance requirements, regulatory updates, and internal policy changes.
Data, Systems & Reporting
- Collect and validate data from internal systems (SAP/JDE) and external sources (3PL, brokers, government portals).
- Support the maintenance of compliance databases, trackers, SharePoint sites, and internal dashboards.
- Assist with compiling trade activity reports, metrics, and KPIs.
Process Improvement & Guidance Development
- Participate in documenting or updating standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Contribute to the creation of guidance documents, playbooks, and tools used by the business.
- Help identify gaps in current processes and escalate improvement ideas.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Engage with Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, Customer Service, and Legal to support trade compliance activities.
- Assist GTC team members with projects and requests as the new organizational model continues to evolve.
- Support training initiatives by helping prepare materials, examples, and communications.
Required Qualifications
- 2–3 years experience in trade compliance, import/export operations, customs brokerage, international logistics, supply chain, or related field.
- Foundational understanding of global trade concepts such as incoterms, HS classification, customs valuation, origin/FTAs, and sanctions screening.
- Ability to quickly learn new systems, regulations, and internal processes.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to act with agility in a dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office / Teams; experience with ERP systems (SAP/JDE) is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience interfacing with internal stakeholders, customs brokers, or freight forwarders.
- Background supporting manufacturing, logistics, or global supply chain operations.
- Interest in developing deeper expertise in trade compliance, classification, origin/FTA, sanctions, or trade operations.
What We’re Looking For
- Curiosity and a growth mindset — someone eager to build technical knowledge.
- Problem‑solving orientation — not just identifying issues but helping find solutions.
- Collaboration — enjoys working with cross‑functional teams globally.
- Adaptability — comfortable with ambiguity during organizational transition.
- Ownership — takes initiative and follows through.
