Job Description
The Tooling Lead will oversee the Tooling Group Machine Shop operations and employees, working with Tooling Machine Supervisors to ensure the shop operates efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Use caution and follow support systems to maintain a safety‑incident‑free facility.
- Respond to any emergency or potential emergency according to established procedures.
- Observe, report, and respond to any instances of product, service, or quality system non‑conformity.
- Maintain security diligence, including controlling key cards, preventing unauthorized entry into Berry facilities by non‑Berry employees, and ensuring proper maintenance and security of Berry equipment and information.
- Successfully complete Primary Duties as outlined in section 4.0 and complete all associated training.
- Pause activities and notify the Safety Lead regarding any potentially unsafe work environments or unsafe employee/supplier practices.
- Initiate actions to prevent occurrences of product, service, or quality system non‑conformities.
- Recommend, initiate, or provide solutions through designated channels.
- Suggest actions for continuous improvement to products, processes, or systems and verify the implementation of solutions.
- Work with shop groups to review operations and performance.
- Identify problems and provide direction to achieve the best solution.
- Review blueprints to ensure proper and productive outcomes.
- Use the shop schedule to efficiently plan work on the shop floor and maintain job timelines.
- Assist supervisors with shop workflow and completion scheduling.
- Maintain day‑to‑day machine schedules.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the shop.
- Work overtime as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Certified Journeyman Tool Maker, capable of operating all types of CNC and manual machines.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and direct employees.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to safely climb on and off a forklift without assistance.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift in high‑traffic, low‑clearance areas without posing a safety risk to others; must not be at risk of sudden loss of consciousness.
- Ability to push/pull loads of approximately 75 lbs a minimum of 10 times per shift.
- Advanced knowledge of Mastercam and CNC software.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving abilities.
