1. Job Overview

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the facility’s operational integrity, supporting vendor-provided services, and performing routine cleaning and upkeep of common areas. This role ensures that building systems, equipment, and contracted services meet safety, compliance, and performance standards while maintaining a clean and safe environment.

2. Job Dimensions

Vendor Coordination:

  • Act as the primary liaison for vendors performing maintenance, repairs, and specialized services.
  • Schedule, monitor, and verify completion of vendor work to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of vendor activities, service reports, and invoices.

Facility Maintenance:

  • Conduct routine inspections of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and report issues requiring vendor intervention.
  • Performs asset repairs and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Prepare work areas for vendor activities and ensure safety compliance.
  • Painting location and visitor lines, walls and floors as needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Shift Supervisor.

3. Principal Accountabilities

Cleaning & Housekeeping:

  • Maintain cleanliness of restrooms including replenishing supplies and performing minor repairs as needed.
  • Clean and sanitize break room and office areas, including countertops, sinks, and appliances.
  • Perform dusting and de-webbing of interior and exterior facility surfaces, including walls, ceilings, and corners.
  • Empty trash receptacles and ensure proper waste disposal.
  • Support periodic deep-cleaning projects and seasonal facility upkeep.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Enforce safety protocols during vendor operations, including lockout/tagout and hazard communication.
  • Verify that vendors adhere to OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and company safety standards.
  • Maintain documentation for audits and compliance checks.

Administrative Support:

  • Track service contracts, warranties, and scheduled maintenance.
  • Assist in budget control and cost for vendor services.
  • Support procurement of parts and supplies related to vendor-managed systems.
  • Thorough completion of work order documentation within the CMMS.

6. Qualifications/Requirements

6.1 Formal Qualifications and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in facilities maintenance.
  • Knowledge of building systems and vendor management practices.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Adherence to the Core Values of the Company
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks requiring standing, bending, and climbing.
  • Comfortable working in various environments (indoor/outdoor, mechanical rooms).
  • Standing up to 8 hours a day
  • Manufacturing work environment with moderate noise levels and smells
  • Ability to work with chemicals and cleaning supplies

6.2 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviours

Job Specific skills and abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, SAP, CMMS (i.e. Maintain X), BMS
  • Preferred knowledge in commercial construction best practices. Plumbing, Painting, Roofing, Fire Suppression, Electrical, Landscaping/Irrigation, HVAC, Concrete, and Foundation
  • Preferred knowledge in Manufacturing systems. Compressed Air, Dock systems, Burners, RTO, Security, 
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions on the most appropriate approach to solving problems.
  • Ability to build strong vendor relationships

Compensation:

  • The starting rate of pay for this position is $25.00; however, starting pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
