Job title: Cylinder Handler

Reports to (Title): Shift Supervisor
1. Job Overview
Cylinder Handlers will help support the operation of the production floor as required. Their main focuses will be the safety of themselves and their co-workers and helping to produce quality product in a timely manner. They will also learn the operation of press and learn and apply all safety, quality and production procedures. They will work with co-workers in and out of their department to improve safety, quality and production at the facility. This is a self-driven position as you will be working majority of the time by yourself.

3. Principal Accountabilities
- To be aware of, adhere to and help to improve all safety standards and procedures at AF-Shelbyville
- To be aware of, adhere to and help to improve all quality standards and procedures at AF-Shelbyville
- To be aware of, adhere to and help to improve all production standards and procedures at AF-Shelbyville
- Possess good verbal and written communication skills
- Learn and apply understanding of current operating standards and practices. Willingly learns and applies new standards and practices
- Willing to learn and apply new skills
- Able to understand and make accurate measurements. Has a basic, high school-level math skill. Able to read, comprehend and follow verbal or written instructions in English
- Has basic computer skills
- Participates in Continuous Improvement initiatives
- Works with co-workers and management in a positive and constructive manner
- Follows all Company policies and procedures related to safety and maintains only the highest safety standards by wearing proper PPE, etc.
- Meets Company policy attendance requirements including timely reporting of absence and working overtime.
- Complies with all process change control policies and procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining good housekeeping and organization in department to 6S Standards.
- Performs all tasks within acceptable limits of quality, quantity, sanitation and timeliness of completion paying particular attention to prevent and eliminate costly errors.
- Complies with sanitation guidelines and good manufacturing practices related to neatness, product cleanliness and personal hygiene.
- Maintains complete and accurate document control.
- Other tasks as assigned.
- Conducts parts washing and cylinder retrieval as necessary.
- Cross trains in roll grinding and all pre-press departmental areas.
- Fill in as Press Helper/Assistant when needed (cross trained)

6. Qualifications/Requirements
6.1 Formal Qualifications and Experience
Knowledge and Experience
- 1-3 years industrial experience in flexible packaging or similar manufacturing environment
- Understands, adheres to and reinforces OHSE policies and directives.
- Possess good hand-eye coordination.
- Possess full color perception, and a basic understanding of laminating equipment and processes.
- Ability to operate a forklift.
Education and Certifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
6.2 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviors

- Basic computer skills
- Must be able to flex hours in order to support multi-shift operation
- Ability to stay on task and follow instruction
- Basic measurement, math, communication, reading and writing skills
- Ability to understand and apply all Amcor safety, quality and production standards
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift continuously for up to 12 hours
- Ability to repeatedly lift up to 45 lbs without assistance
- Ability and willingness to drive forklift
- Must prioritize safety, above all else
