Job Description

Role Overview

Controls the process, maintains quality standards and ensures continuous improvement of the total injection process to include: injection machines and resin systems. The Lead position is an additional responsibility added on to an employee’s normally assigned position. The Lead assigns specific job functions that go beyond a team member’s normal position requirements. Shift: 12 hours, 2-2-3 schedule

Key accountabilities and tasks for this role

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Leads the injection team members assigned to the shift and is the first point of contact for operators.
  • Ensures operations are completed in accordance with Amcor Rigid Plastics USA Inc. safety procedures and ensures team members are working in a safe manner and identifies and corrects unsafe work practices.
  • Ensures plant quality standards are being met and maintained by the department.
  • Controls the process of multiple injection machines using written work instructions, visual management, and computer interface.
  • Evaluates and improves operator’s skill level and assist in training operators.
  • Troubleshoots and performs adjustments to the machines to correct improper functions.
  • Assists with new machine setups.
  • Performs preventive maintenance on machines.
  • Reviews process data daily to ensure department is meeting or exceeding efficiency requirements.
  • Completes downtime reports and error logs.
  • Effectively communicates issues to the shift supervisor, maintenance technicians and operations manager.
  • Operates machines and completes all duties of the machine operator in their absence.
  • Provides coverage for operator breaks.
  • Ensures the department maintains a clean work environment.
  • Additional duties will be assigned by Operations Manager or Shift Supervisor as business changes require.

Education & experience required/desired for the role

  • High School Diploma or GED; and related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Excellent computer knowledge
  • Team player
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize work tasks
  • Ability to communicate well on all levels and good interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Adapts to changes in the work environment; able to deal with frequent changes or unexpected events
  • Possess the ability to work all shifts and required overtime as needed
