Job Description

Role Overview

Defines and controls the process of PET injection molding, blow molding, and/or packaging operations by developing and managing process control procedures, training standards, continuous improvement projects, and team building. 

Your Role in Unpacking Possibilities

Key accountabilities and tasks for this role

  • Observes all production machinery and mechanical equipment, to include electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems, to ensure proper and efficient operation.
  • Dismantles machinery and mechanical equipment using appropriate lockout/tag out procedures to remove defective parts; repairs or replaces the defective parts, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Determines and orders appropriate materials and parts needed for service/repair of the downstream equipment using SAP. Communicates with vendors to ensure all machine parts and other orders are processed in a timely manner.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on all assigned equipment. This includes the Domino, Alps, and Pressco Units.
  • Performs changeovers on downstream machinery and Sidel as required. Must debug and optimize process after any change over until standard production rates are achieved.
  • Uses blueprints, drawings, sketches, layouts, and equipment manuals to identify
  • Machine malfunctions.
  • Inspects product for quality defects and notifies the process lead and/or supervisor of quality issues.
  • Performs all tasks in accordance with established safety standards.
  • Effectively communicates with all internal departments.
  • Develops written procedures and process books to ensure goods are produced to specifications.
  • Troubleshoots and corrects machine malfunctions and quality issues.
  • Qualifies new lines and ensures start up lines are operating within specifications.
  • Schedules and ensures preventative maintenance is performed on all machines assigned to the department.
  • Coordinates continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensures work areas are clean and general housekeeping duties are being performed.

What We Want From You

Education & experience required/desired for the role

  • High School Diploma or GED.  Post-secondary education preferred in related field (Technical or Vocational education)
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • 2 years machinery operator/maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Excellent computer knowledge
  • Team player
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize work tasks
  • Ability to communicate well on all levels and good interpersonal skills required
  • Adapts to changes in the work environment; able to deal with frequent changes or unexpected events
  • Possess the ability to work all shifts and required overtime as needed
