Position Summary

The Process Technician I support daily molding or printing operations by performing machine start‑ups, basic troubleshooting, material/colorant management, and product quality checks. This role works under close guidance from Process Technician II/III staff and leads to build foundational technical knowledge of injection molding processes, equipment, and safety practices.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance

  • Follows all safety rules, PPE, LOTO, and machine‑guarding procedures.
  • Reports hazards, near misses, and equipment concerns immediately.
  • Maintains clean and safe work areas.

Machine Operation & Process Support

  • Performs basic machine start‑ups, shutdowns, and routine checks.
  • Makes minor adjustments under direction to maintain part quality.
  • Monitors cycle consistency, alarms, and part ejection.

Material, Colorant & Foil Handling

  • Maintains steady material and colorant supply to assigned machines.
  • Loads/unloads resin and additives using loaders, hoppers, or material handling systems.
  • Monitors hot‑stamp foil supply and reports alignment/usage issues.

Quality & Documentation

  • Performs in‑process visual inspections for defects (flash, shorts, splay, contamination).
  • Records basic production data, part counts, scrap reasons, and downtime.
  • Communicates clearly during shift handoffs with incoming/outgoing techs.

Collaboration & Production Support

  • Works closely with Machine Operators, Packers, and Team Leaders to maintain output.
  • Alerts Quality or Maintenance when mechanical or quality issues arise.
  • Provides operator breaks and workstation coverage as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude; willingness to learn molding processes.
  • Ability to use basic measurement tools (calipers, gauges).
  • Ability to work weekends/overtime based on production needs.

Physical Demands (Entry / Foundational)

Posture & Mobility

  • Standing/Walking: Frequently (6–8 hours per 12‑hour shift; 4–6 hours per 8‑hour shift) on concrete floors.
  • Sitting: Occasionally (up to 1–2 hours per shift) for documentation/training.
  • Climbing: Occasionally on steps/platforms; infrequent ladder use for low‑height access.
  • Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching: Frequently during material handling, clearing parts, and basic cleaning.

Lifting, Carrying, Push/Pull

  • Manual lift: Frequently up to 35–50 lbs. (e.g., resin bags, trays, toolboxes); two‑person lift or mechanical aid required above 50 lbs.
  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 50–75 lbs. of force (carts, bins, pallet jacks—non‑powered).
  • Material handling aids: Pallet jack (manual), basic dollies; powered equipment only if trained/certified.

Reach & Dexterity

  • Reaching: Frequent reaching at waist/shoulder height; occasional overhead reach for loaders/foil rolls.
  • Fine motor/hand tools: Frequent use of calipers, gauges, hand tools for minor adjustments and checks.

Sensory & Cognitive

  • Visual acuity: Frequent close inspection for defects and dimensional checks (calipers, go/no‑go).
  • Hearing/communication: Frequent verbal exchange in moderate industrial noise; follow alarms and instructions.
  • Attention/pace: Sustained focus in repetitive tasks with intermittent troubleshooting.

Environment & PPE

  • Temperature/noise: Work near molding machines; heat from equipment, moderate to high noise; occasional exposure to odors/fumes from resins/inks within permissible limits.
  • PPE: Safety glasses, cut‑resistant gloves, hearing protection, safety shoes; task‑specific PPE (e.g., heat‑resistant gloves) as required.

Schedule

  • Shifts/overtime: Ability to work 12‑hour shifts, overtime, weekends, and nights based on production demand.

Hourly Range: $19.50 - $22.50 per hour
