Job Overview

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing end-to-end supply chain operations to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and uninterrupted flow of materials and finished goods. This role oversees production planning, materials planning, shipping and logistics, import/export compliance, and trading business operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.

The role drives operational excellence by maximizing service levels (DIFOT), optimizing working capital, and enabling efficient production through integrated planning and cross-functional collaboration.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

1. Production Planning

  • Lead the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, including demand review, supply planning, and executive alignment
  • Develop and execute feasible production plans aligned with capacity, material availability, and customer priorities
  • Establish and enforce planning parameters such as freeze periods, scheduling discipline, and change management controls
  • Collaborate closely with Production to ensure optimized machine utilization and schedule adherence
  • Drive continuous improvement in planning accuracy, responsiveness, and service delivery

 

2. Materials Planning & Procurement

  • Oversee end-to-end materials planning, ensuring timely availability of raw materials, packaging, and indirect supplies
  • Optimize inventory levels across RM, WIP, and FG while balancing service levels and working capital targets
  • Implement robust inventory control processes, including aging, slow-moving, and excess stock management
  • Lead supplier sourcing, evaluation, and performance management to ensure quality, reliability, and cost competitiveness
  • Negotiate pricing and commercial terms with suppliers to achieve best total cost of ownership

 

3. Shipping, Logistics & Distribution

  • Manage outbound and inbound logistics operations, ensuring timely and cost-efficient delivery of goods
  • Ensure on-time, in-full (DIFOT) delivery performance to customers
  • Oversee warehouse and distribution processes, including storage, handling, and dispatch
  • Partner with logistics providers to optimize freight cost, transit time, and service reliability
  • Monitor logistics KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives

 

4. Import & Export (ImpEx) Management

  • Ensure full compliance with all import/export regulations, customs requirements, and trade laws
  • Oversee documentation, permits, and clearances for inbound and outbound shipments
  • Manage relationships with brokers, forwarders, and regulatory bodies
  • Mitigate risks related to delays, penalties, and non-compliance
  • Continuously improve ImpEx processes to enhance efficiency and reduce lead times

 

5. Trading Business Management

  • Oversee supply chain operations supporting the trading business, including sourcing, order fulfillment, and inventory management
  • Coordinate with Sales and Commercial teams to ensure product availability and responsiveness to market demand
  • Monitor trading margins, cost structures, and inventory turns
  • Develop scalable processes to support growth and profitability of the trading business
  • Ensure alignment between trading operations and overall supply chain strategy

 

6. Inventory & Data Management

  • Ensure accurate and real-time tracking of inventory across all stages (RM, WIP, FG)
  • Lead regular inventory reviews, cycle counts, and physical stock audits
  • Maintain integrity of ERP and planning systems (e.g., QAD or equivalent)
  • Utilize data analytics to support decision-making, forecasting, and performance improvement

 

7. Stakeholder Management & Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Sales, Production, Finance, Quality, and OHSE to align supply chain activities
  • Act as the key interface between internal teams and external partners (suppliers, logistics providers, customers)
  • Drive customer satisfaction through proactive communication and service delivery excellence

 

8. Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Supply Chain team (planning, purchasing, logistics, warehouse)
  • Build organizational capability through training, performance management, and succession planning
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement

 

9. Continuous Improvement & Compliance

  • Drive supply chain optimization initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and enhance service levels
  • Ensure compliance with FSMS, OHS&E, and regulatory standards
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies across the supply chain
  • Lead digitalization and process improvement initiatives where applicable 

 

 

Qualifications & Requirements

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or related field

 

Experience

  • Minimum 10+ years in Supply Chain, with strong exposure to:
    • Production Planning
    • Materials Planning
    • Logistics & Distribution
    • Import/Export Operations
    • Supplier Management
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or trading environment preferred

 

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and planning capabilities
  • Advanced Excel and ERP system knowledge (e.g., QAD or similar)
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong leadership and team development skills
