JOB DESCRIPTION
Job title: Quality Systems Lead    Reports to: Technical & Quality Manager

BG/BU/Corp :   Snacks & Confectionary    Location: AF Cumbria

A. Overview of role purpose: 

The Quality Systems Lead is responsible for leading the compliance and regulatory activities on the AF Cumbria site. Their main responsibilities are the maintenance of the sites Quality Management System and ensuring that the site is prepared for external audits from certification bodies. Audits will cover but not be limited to BRCGS, AIB, ISCC plus and FSC.

The Quality Systems Lead will also manage the regulatory and compliance work for product safety, controlling the creation and maintenance of Declarations of Compliance, and be the main point of contact for customers when questions arise.

They will also manage the roll out of group driven initiatives and be part of the wider quality network within Amcor, establishing relationships with other quality teams and participate in business quality improvement initiatives.


B. Key Accountabilities:

Safety    •    Leading by example and encouraging correct behaviours;
•    Challenging co-workers who are not working safely;
•    Utilising and promoting the use of the near miss system;
•    Carrying out and promoting the use of behavioural audits;
Product Safety    •    Lead the site HARA team;
•    Be the Product Safety Champion engaging with the central product safety team and keeping all compliance documentation up to date; 
•    Be the site expert for all product safety questions and queries from customers and internal stakeholders;
•    Lead investigations into product safety issues on materials used in AF Cumbria.  

Quality & Hygiene    •    Investigation of relevant internal or customer faults either raised by or reported to the site;
•    Feeding back to customers and/or central functions on complaint investigations and ensuring communication with key stakeholders is maintained;
•    Ensure CAPA work is completed and effective to resolve defects in the process or system;
•    Carry out internal auditing and GMP checks around the site and with suppliers where necessary;
•    Support the continued upskilling of the site operational team with guidance and training on hygiene standards and guided audits.

Quality Systems    •    Create, edit and maintain, as needed, the documents that make up the site Quality Management System, ensuring that changes are communicated to the relevant functions on site;
•    Manage the internal audit system and other compliance obligations as described by the BRCGS and AIB standards;
•    Roll out any group led initiatives, in the form of blueprints, to ensure that the site is aligned with Amcor corporate activities.

External Audit    •    Be the point of contact and lead for Quality and Hygiene external certification audits, arranging the audit in a timely fashion to ensure certifications are kept up to date;
•    Ensure any CAPA evidence is provided to certification bodies.
People Management    •    Manage the Quality Specialist who will report directly to the Quality Systems Lead.

 

C. Internal and External Relationships / Contacts:

The Quality Systems Lead reports directly to the Technical & Quality Manager and must develop particularly strong links with the operations team. In addition the role holder and must build effective working relationships with:

    Other site functions including Technical, Finance, Planning and Supply Chain
    Account Managers and customer facing teams

 The role will also have significant contact with:

    Customers
    Suppliers
    The Site Leadership Team
D. Qualifications / requirements:

Knowledge and Experience    •    Experience working for at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment within a Quality role;
•    Experienced in leading certification and/or customer audits;
•    Problem solving skills;
•    Ability to motivate self and others;
•    Good organisational, communication and networking skills;
•    Experience in dealing with customers and external stakeholders;
•    Strong IT skills using all Microsoft office based systems.
Education and Certifications    •    Educated to degree level in a STEM subject;
•    Formal auditing qualification (lead assessor preferred);
•    Level 4 HACCP or equivalent.
Job Specific Requirements    •    Knowledge of packaging manufacturing especially flexographic printing, extrusion lamination, blown extrusion and slitting would be advantageous.
