JOB PURPOSE
Amcor Flexibles’ Sligo is seeking an experienced Production Planner to join our team. The Production Planner plays a critical role in balancing customer demand with plant manufacturing capacity to ensure the timely delivery of highly regulated flexible packaging products. Reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager, the successful candidate will manage the end-to-end planning, scheduling, and overall efficiency of the manufacturing process. By working cross-functionally with operations, quality, procurement, and customer service, this role creates stable, cost-effective daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules. Ultimately, the Production Planner ensures Amcor Flexibles Sligo meets its short-term operational deadlines while supporting the long-term commercial goals of the company.
Principal Accountabilities
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to all site safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment and report any hazards or incidents immediately.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional coworkers, internal teams, and stakeholders to ensure company operational goals are achieved.
- Production Planning & Scheduling: Plan, schedule, and coordinate with internal departments to deliver advanced daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules that meet customer DIFOT (Delivery in Full, On Time) targets.
- Capacity & Demand Review: Analyse customer demand patterns against manufacturing capacity constraints, and proactively adjust schedules for material variances, labour shortages, or machine downtime while highlighting efficiency improvements.
- Performance Reporting: Generate and deliver periodic reports on plan-versus-actual adherence, operational capacity, and weekly/monthly DIFOT loss-tree analysis to improve overall operational output.
- Schedule Monitoring: Monitor and adapt manufacturing lines to unforeseen disruptions using advanced scenario-based planning to minimise productivity losses.
- Raw Material & Shipment Planning: Coordinate with purchasing, warehousing, and logistics to support a Just-In-Time (JIT) material flow, safely minimizing excess raw material and finished goods stock to optimise working capital.
- New Product Integration: Partner with engineering and project teams to seamlessly integrate New Product Introductions (NPI) into the live production lifecycle without causing disruptions.
- Documentation Control: Maintain highly accurate, detailed records of all planning activities, schedule deviations, and technical issues encountered.
- Inventory Management: Support localised inventory management initiatives and monitor operational supply levels as required.
- Schedule Compliance: Assist the operations and production floor management teams in tracking and ensuring strict compliance with the finalised schedule.
- Site Communication: Act as the primary, central point of contact for all site queries relating to manufacturing planning and operational scheduling.
- Ad-Hoc Duties: Perform additional operational tasks and project duties as requested by the Supply Chain Manager or site leadership team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of proven experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Industry Knowledge: A strong, foundational understanding of core production planning and scheduling principles.
- Operational Drive: Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure to meet tight deadlines, paired with a highly proactive approach to long-term planning.
