About the role

Joining a successful, highly motivated manufacturing team, producing a wide range of tubes   for our customers globally at our Amcor flagship site. Engaging with other departments and stakeholders is key to delivery of our products. Maintaining operational targets through our AEE system and subsequent remedial action to strive towards elimination of top loss and cost down initiatives

 

Continental 12 Hour Shift Pattern (36/48/36)

           

Key Job Accountabilities

As Shift Supervisor you will

  • Provide effective leadership, motivation, and direction to all shift personnel, taking full responsibility for their performance and actions.
  • Ensure all planned and unplanned work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with both Company and Customer quality standards.
  • Maintain overall responsibility for the health and safety of shift team members, ensuring compliance with all relevant procedures and legislation.
  • Attend daily production meetings and weekly meetings where needed
  • Hold daily supervisors’ meetings with shift staff making sure communication is effectively delivered to the teams.
  • Work collaboratively with other shift supervisors to develop best practices and achieve KPI targets.
  • Implement effective teamwork techniques across the shift.
  • Ensure all required administrative tasks and paperwork are completed accurately and on time.
  • Absence management and actions according to company policies.
  • Arrange holiday and sickness cover, including emergency overtime when appropriate.
  • Ensure log sheets are completed accurately, and all downtime is clearly recorded to support precise AEE reporting with corrective actions outlined
  • Report machine stoppages (unrelated to planned production changes) to Production Controllers and Maintenance and allocate labour accordingly.
  • Ensure all Quality based checks are completed in line with relevant work instructions.
  • Verify that all quality, production, and machine setup documentation is completed correctly and that colour matches meet required standards.
  • Monitor ongoing checks throughout the shift to maintain production quality and specification compliance.
  • Escalate any non‑conforming components to management or Production Control to determine corrective or remedial action, and initiate NPR processes when necessary.
  • Ensure all required Health & Safety checks on machinery and equipment are completed on schedule and accurately recorded.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment throughout the shift and at shift end.
  • Ensure compliance with all stated company policies and procedures, including:
    • Health & Safety
    • Quality
    • Environmental Management
    • Working hours and break schedules
  • Support change through lean manufacturing techniques and tools 
  • Ensure staff allocation reflects the needs of the production plan
  • Coordinate the effective use of labour in line with production requirements.
  • Identify training requirements for shift personnel and liaise with area trainer to arrange appropriate development.
  • Conduct appraisals for shift staff.
  • Control labour levels and associated costs in line with production needs.
  • Support internal and external audits as required.
  • Complete all reporting tasks in accordance with company requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements 

  • Experienced in a fast paced manufacturing environment  
  • History of managing a team up to 40
  • Good computer literacy skills including word and excel.
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Desirable would be green belt level optimising DMAIC principles
  • Awareness of Short Interval Control
