Job Purpose
LEZO site belongs to our Meat & Dairy Business Unit. The Meat & Dairy Business Unit of Amcor Flexibles EMEA utilizes sophisticated coating, printing, laminating and specialist conversion technologies across a number of European sites, supplying a range of flexible packaging products to a prestigious, food customer base.
The Operations Manager within our LEZO site is responsible for managing:
- Pre-press.
- Production.
- Maintenance.
- Continuous Improvement.
- Engineering and CAPEX.
- Warehouse (indoor logistics).
Main priorities are:
- Compliance with company/plant policies e procedures.
- Alignment with plant objectives and customer requirements.
- Focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
- Within Plant Leadership Team, support PGM in the plant management, with a drive for excellence approach.
Job Dimensions & Scope
Process: transformation of raw materials in end products
Complexity: interaction with customers, suppliers, contractors, Amcor corporate (OHSE, R&D, Quality, Sales/Commercial, Procurement, Supply Chain, IT) and other AFEMEA plants.
Staff: 127 people (8 direct reports)
Scope & Geographical spread: Lezo Plant, Amcor plants, Corporate (OHSE, R&D, Quality, Sales/Commercial, Procurement, Supply Chain, IT) and other AFEMEA plants.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Driver of the organization for the management of the safety performance of the plant.
- Taking an active role in the plant’s safety programs and goals, and spreading safety culture.
- Promoting Amcor Values within the plant
- Delivering budget in terms of production volumes, efficiency, waste and all costs components.
- Promoting, applying, implementing and controlling Capex.
- Requesting and supporting CI improvement projects.
- Defining and assigning goals and improvement projects to the CI Manager and line managers focused on competitiveness, efficiency and business continuity.
- Defining and managing organizational processes and improvements (roles, responsibilities, number of headcounts, shifts, activities), according to company policies and budget.
- Creating value through best practices sharing with other plants and introduction of new technologies
- Defining and verifying the correct KPIs to control processes performance.
- Leading innovation and changes.
- Supporting PGM and Plant Leadership Team in the plant management.
- Supporting PGM and HR in industrial relations and disciplinary issues.
- Heightening own team performances, knowledge and leadership.
- Maintaining high level of collaborators’ motivation and engagement.
Directs reports of Operations Manager are:
- Maintenance Manager
He/she is responsible to develop and manage preventive and reactive maintenance for machineries, assets and facilities following legal requirements and supplier instructions. He/she coordinate electrician and mechanical supervisors, organizing jobs respecting safety and production priorities.
- Production Department managers are responsible for:
- OHSE performances and improvement plans.
- Compliance with company/plant policies e procedures.
- Alignment with plant objectives and customer requirements.
- Growth of team performances and knowledge.
- Management of changes in production environment.
- Focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
- Management in terms of volume, productivity increases, scrap reductions, internal and external quality claims.
- Value creation through best practices shared with other plants and introduction of new technologies.
- Management of production and department targets.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Formal Qualifications and Experience.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment and supervision.
- Experience in packaging is an advantage but not a pre-requisite for the role.
- Experience of successfully managing significant change / transformation projects within a manufacturing environment.
- First-hand experience of Lean and continuous improvement methodologies e.g. Six Sigma, Kaizen etc.
- Degree in a science, technology or engineering subject preferred, advanced degree advantageous.
- Knowledge of:
- Production machines, tools and related process control equipment.
- Infrastructure and installations (electric power, gas distribution, HVAC, compressed air,,…).
- Energy management,
- Shop floor systems.
- Safety and environmental regulation (Spain, EU).
- Use of statistic calculation tools.
- Basics of finance,
- Integrated Quality Assurance Systems (EHS, quality).
Not a pre-requisite for the role, but convenient:
- ATEX principles and materials.
- FDA, BRC or any other food safety and hygiene standard.
- SAP
