Neenah, Wis. – Amcor (NYSE: AMCR, ASX: AMC), a global leader in responsible packaging solutions, has earned two AmeriStar awards from the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) for the AmPrima® recycle ready 150ml refill pouch, and Amcor HealthCare™ reclosable pouch.

The Institute of Packaging Professionals will showcase the winning packages at PACK EXPO International, in IoPP booth N-4560 and the Showcase of Packaging Innovations, October 18 through 21, 2026. Amcor will also show the award-winning technologies in their exhibit, booth S-3500.

Amcor AmPrima® Recycle Ready 150ml Refill Pouch Reduces Plastic by 94%

Amcor’s AmPrima® recycle ready 150ml refill pouch represents a breakthrough in more sustainable packaging for the health and beauty aid category, combining advanced materials science, premium aesthetics, and a transformative consumer value proposition. The AmPrima® recycle ready 150ml refill pouch marks one of the first large-scale implementations of beauty refill packaging in North America that is designed to meet APR (Association of Plastic Recyclers) Critical Guidance Testing, establishing a new technical and design benchmark for the category.

The 150ml refill pouch contains 94% less plastic compared to three standard 50ml PET jars with lidding. This reduction translates directly into lower carbon footprint, non-renewable primary energy demand, and water consumption. According to an Amcor ASSET™ life cycle assessment,1 the solution reduces carbon footprint by 76%, non-renewable primary energy demand by 76%, and water consumption by 80%.

AmPrima® is a proprietary recycle ready film technology engineered to withstand high-temperature filling processes while maintaining seal and spout integrity and product protection, capabilities historically limited to multi-material laminates. The pouch features an Amcor Amplify® matte over-lacquer finish and advanced print technologies, delivering a premium aesthetic.

“This is a significant advancement in flexible packaging, achieving the heat resistance, barrier performance, machinability, functionality and aesthetics that the beauty industry expects, all while reducing environmental impact. By enabling refill systems at scale, this packaging solution contributes to long-term reductions in packaging waste and supports systemic change,” said Olivia Downs, marketing manager at Amcor Flexibles North America.

Amcor HealthCare™ Reclosable Pouch Reduces Carbon Footprint by 83%

Amcor’s HealthCare™ reclosable pouch delivers a more sustainable replacement to HDPE and PET bottles in the drug and pharmaceutical category. The pouch, formulated for gummy vitamins in the consumer health market, uses Amcor HealthCare™ recycle ready film that is designed to meet the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) Design® Guide for Recyclability. The film is pre-qualified2 by How2Recycle® and designed to be recycled through the store drop-off polyethylene stream.

Compared to traditional HDPE and PET bottles, the reclosable pouch offers a more sustainable packaging solution. According to data from an Amcor ASSET™ life cycle assessment,3 which compares this pouch to a standard PET bottle, the HealthCare™ pouch results in an 83% reduction in carbon footprint, a 79% reduction in non-renewable primary energy demand, and a 76% reduction in water consumption.

The Amcor HealthCare™ reclosable pouch features a high-performance oxygen and moisture barrier that helps preserve the vitamins’ flavor, texture and color over time. This digitally printed pouch features a window that allows consumers to see the vibrant gummy vitamin colors, and a child resistant zipper to ensure that it meets safety standards.

“The Amcor HealthCare™ reclosable pouch is a breakthrough technology for the consumer health market, meeting the rising demand for more sustainable packaging. This proprietary recycle ready film offers a significant reduction in material, while still meeting critical safety, oxygen barrier and moisture barrier requirements,” said Brian Ingraham, senior R&D director at Amcor Flexibles North America.

Since establishing the AmeriStar awards competition in 2001, the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) has been awarding professionals across North America for their exceptional packages. Entries undergo rigorous evaluation by a panel of distinguished judges from diverse packaging industry segments.
