Job Description
Night Shift Position
1. Job Overview
Operation of the slitting machine while following customer quality specifications, ensuring
dimensions, sizes of rolls, quantity and print quality are accurate. Perform rework/rewinding of rolls
with identified defects from primary operations.
2. Job Dimensions
• Support EHS Initiatives
• Ensure proper and accurate set up of the machine including the following:
o Review job folder and data on computer regarding job
o Use hoist to hang rolls.
o Review blueprints and complete slitting checklist to obtain accurate customer specifications.
o Set web guides and knives pursuant to customer specifications.
o Clean rollers, adjust gauges, adjust cores or spacers, and put lay down arms on slitter.
• Prepare machine (check specifications) for next job by reviewing job folder and data on computer.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment.
• Ensure machine is operating according to process specifications.
• Watch for wrinkles, voids, print quality, and fisheyes on current job running.
• Set footage counter, hang rolls, cut out press stops and splices.
• Take sets off slitter and put cores on slitter.
• Obtain and deliver samples to the lab for Quality Assurance
• Help assistants by labelling, bagging, and putting away sets as time permits.
• Complete other duties as assigned by Shift Supervisor
3. Principal Accountabilities
Job Specific skills and abilities
• Proficient mathematical and measurement skills.
• Knowledge of metric conversions
• 1-2 years slitter assistant experience preferred.
• Ability to run multiple job simultaneously.
• Ability to handle project-type work while working individually with little supervision.
• Experience working with production computer software.
• Broad knowledge of product and customer specifications
• Mechanical knowledge of and ability to adjust gauges, scales and hand tools.
4. Major challenges & complexities
• Visually inspects food contact paths during preventative maintenance to ensure no visible
contamination is evident. Contact supervisor if contamination is suspected.
• Punctuality and adherence to the company attendance policy are essential .

6. Qualifications/Requirements
6.1 Formal Qualifications and Experience
Knowledge and Experience
• One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
Education and Certifications
• High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
6.2 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviours
Job Specific skills and abilities
• Must be detail conscious, quality control and safe production oriented.
Pay Transparency Statement – Compensation
The starting salary for this position is expected to be $18.00 (plus $1.00 per hour for night shift differential); however, base pay offered may vary within the full salary range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay information is based on national averages and a geographic differential may be applied based on work location.
