Job Description

About the Role

In this role, you will support and help lead environmental, health, and safety initiatives to ensure a safe, compliant, and well-maintained workplace. You will play a key role in developing and maintaining safety programs, coordinating training, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards.

You will work closely with leadership and employees across all shifts to identify risks, investigate incidents, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance. Your work will directly support employee well-being by helping prevent injuries, maintaining accurate safety documentation, and assisting in emergency preparedness and response efforts.

This position also provides opportunities to expand your impact through involvement in ISO leadership, safety committees, audits, and cross-functional collaboration as you help strengthen the organization’s overall safety culture.

Responsibilities

1.    Develop, implement, and manage safety programs, policies and procedures.

2.   Prepare monthly accident summary reports.

3.   Assist in maintaining OSHA 300 Logs and relevant reports.

4.   Assist in scheduling training courses/classes for in-house training opportunities.

5.   Understand Emergency Procedure and assist in scheduled drills.

6.   Conduct Safety Committee and First Responder meetings.

7.   Assist in Management of Change procedures.

8.   Assist in workers’ compensation reporting.

9.   Conduct Safety Housekeeping and Environmental audits/inspections

10. Conduct incident reporting using the GDC incident-reporting database.

11.  Identify hazardous conditions/actions within the plant and recommend corrective measures.

12. Investigate all accidents and property losses.

13. Provide Supervisors/Group leaders with safety training information for monthly safety meetings.

14. Organize and oversee all required safety training, i.e. fork truck, lockout, crane.

15. Conduct safety orientation to new employees using the New Hire Onboarding Process.

16. Conduct chemical inventory and update SDS using Cornerstone Environmental, Health and Safety database.

17.  Assist in purchasing appropriate personal protective equipment.

18. Assist inspection personnel from insurance carriers, i.e. OSHA, EPA, DOT.

19. Represent the department as the ISO Team Leader.

20. Participate in a periodic on-call schedule, during weekends and weekdays.

21. Maintain schedule flexibility to seamlessly support off-shift operations and business needs.

22. Oversee the assessment and initial treatment of onsite workplace injuries and health episodes.

23. Serve as the primary contact point of contact for managing employee medical incidents.

24. Perform any other duties established by the Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager.

Qualifications

1.    BS Degree in Industrial Safety Management preferred

2.   Excellent written and oral communication skills

3.   1+ year(s) Safety Experience in an industrial setting

4.   Strong organizational skills with proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously

5.   Some knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other government regulations
