About the role

The Technical Procurement Manager – Liquids is responsible for driving the strategic sourcing, optimization, and continuous improvement of Amcor's Liquids category, including inks, adhesives, and solvents. Working closely with Plant Operations, R&D, Supply Chain, and suppliers, the role identifies and delivers Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) initiatives that create sustainable business value through supply assurance, cost optimization, quality, service, and innovation. The position contributes to the development and execution of category and business procurement strategies, strengthens supplier partnerships, and drives standardization, consolidation, and process improvements across the category. Where applicable, the role also provides guidance and oversight to team members to ensure successful delivery of procurement objectives.

 

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Contribute to the development of the overall global category strategy and translate this strategy into concrete and aligned action plans within the AFAP business
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to develop and implement effective TCO projects for the liquids category to ensure quality of services and improved value to Amcor.
  • Evaluate market and competitive conditions and use this as a basis to review Category strategies and sourcing activities
  • Work closely with Site Management to ensure that the needs of the Sites are effectively represented in the Procurement Strategies
  • Manage the supplier base across the Category area and leverage Category spend across regions and globally if and where appropriate
  • Actively support the integration of Procurement in core business processes
  • Adhere to set standards of Procurement and ensure consistency with Amcor requirements and standards
  • Identify trends and/or issues that need improvement within the Category accounts
  • Assess and manage risks across the Procurement Category while developing and contributing to a risk strategy for the Category, together with mitigating actions

 

Project Management

  • Identify new TCO savings projects and work closely with Operations & the technical team to implement and achieve savings promptly.
  • Support the Operations team to improve the process, usage, and performance of the key raw materials in printing & lamination processes.
  • Work closely with suppliers to support operational efficiencies and maintain performance parameters & quality.

 

Supplier Claim Management

  • Finding the root cause of the technical claims and building arguments to support the category team in the resolution of the claims with the suppliers.

 

Good Practices

  • Support in implementing good practices shared by the Global team and observed in different plants & business units.  

 

Negotiation

  • Enhance the relationship with suppliers in an innovative way to maximize value for Amcor in accordance with the global category strategy and regional implementation
  • Support negotiation process, content and results. Lead the negotiation team to define the desired outcome of a negotiation

 

Relationship Management

  • Establish cross-functional teams to run TCO projects and implement improved operational and commercial supply outcomes for the business and customers
  • Collaborate closely with relevant departments to ensure understanding and compliance with key procurement strategies

 

Financial Planning

  • Develop budgets and targets based on aggressive, well-founded, realistic, and forward-oriented goals
  • Ensure that financial resource allocation is cost-effective and aligned with strategic and operational plans
  • Build an accurate forecast for Category price movements
  • Track and report savings, support procure-to-pay process improvement within the Category area, monitor TCO improvement, as well as working capital improvement using the tracking tools in place
  • Provide periodic and ad hoc reports and forecasts on performance against plan and potential, following up on KPIs and reporting on trends

 

 

Qualifications/Requirements

 

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum of 5 – 8 years of relevant work experience in technical procurement & usage of Liquids (Inks/Adhesive/Solvents)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a regional role in Asia
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken
  • Relevant experience in an upstream or downstream company with a mature procurement function
  • Experience in market and benchmark analysis at a broad level
  • Innovation process experience is considered advantageous

 

Education and Certifications

  • University degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering background preferred)

 

Job-specific skills and abilities

  • Technical knowledge of Chemicals (Inks/Adhesive/Solvents)
  • Understanding of the Inks/Adhesive & Solvent industry
  • Commercial skills – business acumen/market knowledge
  • Experience in the selection of suppliers – inquiry and negotiation
  • Experience in effective project management and coordination with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience in running a printing press/ Laminations of Flexible packaging materials.
  • Experience in the selection, preparation, and execution of commercial agreements relevant to the category being sourced
  • Effective participation in multi-functional work projects and cross-functional teams in an international environment
  • Working knowledge of company information and data systems used by Procurement

Understanding of key administrative systems that impact Procurement and suppliers
