Job Description
Position Overview: Intern will engage with the parts room employees daily and plant accountant regularly to understand the parts room process. Through observation and data collection, contributions will be toward the improved organization of the parts room, efficiency in inventorying the parts room, evaluating current inventories and reducing parts write- offs.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Learning the SAP reporting associated with parts room stock and min/max..
Evaluating the layout of the parts room for efficiency.
Interacting with parts room personnel to understand processes of inventorying and signing in/out of parts.
Assisting with instituting efficiencies in the parts room layout and inventory process, i.e. facilitating inception of the barcode scanning process.
Evaluate what inventories on the books are obsolete and what inventories not on the books are still viable.
Overall, assist in reducing monthly write-offs of parts.
Interface with Maintenance management to understand maintenance needs.
Periodically review with plant accountant and plant controller.
Qualifications: Education
Enrolled in a credentialed and qualified finance and/or supply chain program from an accredited college, university or trade school. .
Competencies
Safety awareness essential
Possess professional written / verbal communication skills.
Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers plantwide
Computer literate - demonstrate a working knowledge and application of various software applications (e.g., WORD, XCEL, PPT, etc.)
Good organizational/time management skills and efficient use of computer software is essential.
Decision making skills, along with ability to understand pertinent laws, are critical.
